Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays. I thought I'd post this. As a music reviewer and fan, it's not uncommon for artists to make references to today's sports. While most songs contain shots at Lebron and basketball, Northwestern rapper Macklemore has released a song entitled "My Oh My".

For you Seattle Mariners fans, you obviously know this call, as it was from the late broadcaster Dave Niehaus. Macklemore uses samples from his legendary call from the 1995 American League Championship game. He also just recollects his childhood about baseball and what not.

Just an awesome tune that can hit you even if you're not from the area.

"Dave Niehaus was not only the voice of the Seattle Mariners, he was the voice of my childhood. Some of my most prized memories, growing up as a kid, are accompanied with his voice narrating the moment. He was more than just another radio announcer. His on-air personality was so genuine, that you had a sense who the man was and what he stood for, by simply listening to him call a game.

I understand that people might not know Niehaus. A large portion of my fan base either lives outside of the Northwest, are too young to have listened to him, or just not a fan of baseball. I get it. But I believe that as musicians, it’s our responsibility to pay homage to the people that made us who we are. For me, Niehaus was an imperative part of not only my upbringing, but of Seattle’s unique history and culture. From his signature “My oh my” catch phrase, to the heart and passion that exuded from the radio, his presence will be greatly missed by the community. And for those of you outside of the area, hopefully you’ll listen and get a glimpse of not only a Town legend, but one of the greatest announcers to ever have ever called a game. – Macklemore"

Wow when I saw the thread title I was betting on it being a Macklemore song. He is one the best artists around (the VS EP is one of the best mixtapes I've ever heard).

Yeah, Macklemore is good. I love his work with Ryan Lewis. He's definitely a different style than most west coast rappers.

And the VS EP is great, btw.

I hope his 2011 album lives up to expectations. I didn't like the VS iTunes re-release, I thought the beats that made it iTunes friendly (copyrights) ruined the songs. Still, those weren't for the most part Ryan Lewis' beats so I give him a pass.
