I have tried both ways and I get this:

The Redemption code that you entered does not exist.
Please check the code on the card back and try again.

its very possible not all the codes are entered yet. It happened with Topps Tribute. I would give it another day or 2.

It is because  you unlock the Super-Refractor of Evan Longoria
And this code is like the card, it doesn't exist

Actually, you're the one doing it wrong.

What you have to do is MAIL the redemption card to Topps and then they will mail you back another redemption card but with a code which can be entered.

This is the Topps way

Another thanked post, it would be funny to redeem the redemption for another redemption! I guess I'll find out in a couple of days!

What if Topps scratches the numbers off of the error-laden redemption card when he mails it to them?
