Jose Bautista close to signing

I'm hoping that he doesn't turn into a pumpkin. Good deal otherwise if he can produce anywhere close to what he did last year.
I wonder if they have any extra cash for next offseason.

The Jays do have very deep pockets...

Also, at the supermarket today, there was 5 different MLB preview magazines out for sale and everyone of them had Bautista on the cover.

It's a calculated risk. If he puts up anywhere close to last year, even like a 4-5 WAR season, he's cashing in to the tune of $100MM plus. AA has bigger balls than I, that's for sure because I don't know that I could do this deal. But word was that the Red Sox were pushing hard for him earlier in the off-season, before they signed Crawford, so it's not like everyone thinks this is a fluke.
