IF AND ONLY IF *ALL* Sports Card Monopolies are put to an end.

i was thinking about this today.....(now, im the first to admit that i love love love love love base Topps cards, always have, always will)

i miss Topps Hockey and Basketball.

What was the last year that Topps put out a base set of all four sports with identical layout? 1992? i'd really like to be able to collect a full-sport set that features the base cards with the same design.

Then there's 1995 Upper Deck...

Never knew that about the same design on '92's but then again I didnt eve know what a '92 Topps card looked like.

They should have done that every year back then (1950s-80s).

Topps should do different designs for all sports because they seem to screw up baseball and finally get it right when football comes around (at least in 2010, comparing my base topps baseball cards to the factory football set cards that arrived the other day).

:?: Topps used the same design for both products.

The pics of the Upper Deck cards are one of my favorites. It had great photography with minor gold foil highlights. Simple yet classy.

UD also put out an amazing MiLB Set that year as well which featured Michael Jordan pretty well

no they didn't.

Baseball had the names in black with foil outline (IIRC) and football factory set has names in white with foil outline. Football has FAR better readability than baseball where I have to glint light off the card surface. I honestly believe Topps knew they screwed the pooch with the design after baseball was released and then fixed it for football.
