I have owned quite a few of these, probably 50 total and own one base autograph gem. They are known for terrible centering, similar to Mike Stanton, but I believe it to be worse.

I never realized how TOUGH they are to grade until I just checked the Population Report. So it peaked my interest. Can you think of any Bowman Chrome or Bowman Chrome Draft Autograph that is tougher to grade?

Base Auto - 9.5 - (33) - 10 - (0)
Ref Auto - 9.5 - (15) - 10 - (0)
Xfractor auto - 9.5 - (0) - 10 - (0)
Blue Ref auto - 9.5 - (2) - 10 - (0)
Gold Ref auto - 9.5 - (0) - 10 - (0)
Orange Ref auto - 9.5 - (0) - 10 - (0)
Red Ref auto - 9.5 - (1) - 10 - (0)

Thoughts?

I've owned a few of these. Don't think I had even 1 with 55/45 or better centering. Seems like the 9.5's should have a nice premium due to the scarcity of them.

Btw, not sure of the pop report, but I haven't seen a well centered Zach Lee Orange Ref AU or a Cowart Blue Ref AU. Those are the only 2 I can think of with the same problem as the Chisenhall's.

Matt Kemp parallels
Gold 4 9.5's out of 19
Blue 4 9.5 out of 36
Xfractor 3 9.5 out of 40
Refractor 24 9.5 out of 71 a little more normal still tough.
I've owned a tenth the print run of blues over time and only have 1 9.5. Was second high bidder on the psa 10 blue that ended last sunday which was POP 1. Really really don't buy cards already graded, but that one would have been an exception at the price.

I think the honor goes to the 2005 bowman draft Stephen Drew chrome auto.

I remember back when the product came out, ALL the blues were off-center, and the population report stands at ZERO 9.5's or 10's out of 46 graded.

Even for the base chrome, only FOUR 9.5's have been granted out of 116 graded, with no 10's.

Not sure on Beavans numbers but
his auto gets nailed everytime. After a few
thousand autos you would think to use marker 2 or 3?

Maybe I should see if the Louvre is interested in this one:

Interesing that the Base Chromes were so tough....
7 - refs
20 - golds
27 - xfractors

He is the opposite of Chisenhall who has ZERO gold refs.....

I've never sent in anything to grade, but I have myself noticed the general crappiness of most of the 2008 Bowman sets. I've had over a dozen chisenhalls and close to that many Mike Montgomery's and both players were completely horrible as far as centering...i've never seen a set before or after that was so pitiful. The refractors and xfractors are even worse as far as centering goes, especially on the Monty's.
