JP Morgan Chase Bank offers a Quick Pay service to send another person money and they do not have to be a Chase customer. As long as one person in a transaction has an account with Chase, you can send and receive payments free. This can save on Paypal "fees" between board members. Check with your bank for similar services.

I have used Chase QuickPay in the past. It is a quick and easy process if you both have Chase accounts, but if only one has a chase account, the other person must sign up and give their bank account info (which some might not be interested in doing).

Obviously, there is no Paypal protection, but it is a good alternative for people you have dealt with before and trust.
