I was just listening to the Pirates game on the radio and heard something along the lines of, "he had a great year last season and is now a veteran".

I always thought it was 3-5 years in the majors then you are officially a veteran. Any less and you still aren't a veteran, just a guy with another year of service (sophomore).

I don't know. I missed the beginning of the sentence. I recall hearing the definition of a major league veteran but can't remember how many years must be put in to be considered one.
