value of a McGwire auto

A guy I work with has a McGwire signed ball, I know the auto is legit and it has a COA. I have always wanted a nice McGwire auto, so I am offerring him $100 for it. since he will likely never make the hall is this too hight and if so, whats a good asking price?

Im no expert... but...

The cheapest you could get one with a legit cert on eBay is like $165.

I saw a guy offering one at a show last weekend for $125ish.

I think $100 is reasonable if you're sure it's real. I'd pay more for a PSA/JSA cert. Less for anything else.

Cool, thanks. I didnt think they went for that much. I will be picking it up on Monday, so i will post some pics of it.

having fans is more important than being good.

bo jackson autos sell for more than stan musial (not that stan doesn't have fans).

I'd spend $100 on a ball if I could guarantee it was a real auto.

A couple of other things to consider:

1). where is the placement of the signature (sweet spot, below sweet spot, etc.)
2). condition of the ball
3). ink used (color of ink, hopefully not Sharpie, etc.)
4). age of signature (the vintage full name signature of the rushed rorschach test he has given the past 15 years or so).
