...where's Josh Gibson since he got no love for tier 1.....??
haha...sorry. he'll fit in nicely.

one thing i noticed...and maybe it's just me...but there aren't a whole lot of HOFs from the past 30 years that i think should fit into either one of these first two groups. very, very few.

Ed Delehanty defintely.
Fred Clarke...meh
Charlie Gehringer...i don't think so
Carl Hubbell...good possibility
Pie...not to me. the low OPS+ really drags him down for me. he wasn't a slugger or a runner...just a good hitter.
Bill Terry...played 1B (premium position). if he played longer, i would say definitely. but i don't think he makes it over some others.
Pud...lost a lot and had a near-league average ERA+ for his career. no.
Kiki Cuyler...apparently couldn't stay healthy. played with the legends, but not elected in until '68. i don't think so.
Robin Roberts...lost a lot and average ERA+.

these are just my opinions...i'd love to hear yours.

Nolan Ryan, Lawrence Berra, Bob Clemente??
i am not much of a Ryan fan, honestly, so i can't let that distract me. but i don't think he's one of the 50 greatest to ever play. this is why i feel this way: http://www.baseball-reference.com/leade ... reer.shtml
go down the list and find Nolan Ryan and see who all his career compares to and see who was/is better.

Berra and Clemente are, imo.
