so why do printing labels cost $1.75 for 1-3 oz.?

used to be 1.44 for 1 oz, 1.56 for 2 oz, and 1.75 for 3 oz....

or something really close to that...

i noticed it is 1.75 for 1, 2 or 3 oz now...

Instead of having workers check every package with a "1oz" postage label on it to make sure it's 1oz or less, which would be overly time consuming and not worth the money the USPS would gain from the postage due, they made it $1.75 up to 3oz since most packages that had 1oz labels on them were probably in the 2-3 oz range. This way, they're less likely to lose out on that quarter or so of postage revenue that would've been due under the previous rates.
