6 Devin Mesoraco

@Jaypers413 (IL)
I believe you are higher on Mesoraco than pretty much anyone else who puts out a Top 50 midseason list. What do you see in him that the others don't?

Klaw (1:38 PM)
What is the value of a true catcher who can hit .270 or so with some walks and 25+ home runs? Given where replacement level is, isn't that an MVP candidate? Mesoraco can do all of those things - good swing, good eye, above-average arm, receiving much better this year now that the thumb is healed.

No way Vizcaino is better than Teheran.

Vizciano could have three plus pitches. Teheran has one plus pitch(changeup), an above average fastball, and a poor curveball. Vizciano can be an ace, Teheran could be Juan Cruz which is why Pedro Martinez comps with Teheran piss me off. Martinez had three plus pitches in the minors, scouts questioned his build that's why.

Viz was the one getting Martinez comps out of the Yankees organization. Teheran also has a reliever's motion. Vizcaino has a higher floor than Teheran too.

The point about Mesoraco is valid. It is very hard to put up Mauer numbers as a catcher (Mauer is isnt even doing it anymore). Most people probably think of Wieters as a bust although he was a deserving All-star this year and will probably a top 5 MLB catcher in the near future if he is not there already. If Mesoraco ends up being that you cant really argue will him being that high on the list.

This is what I meant by shock value - almost every question is Teheran or Vizcaino related in the chat right now.

The fact that both Kipnis and Altuve are 49 and 50 makes this list crap.

Altuve is destroying pitching and Kipnis is having a great season

Arodys Vizcaino
Analysis: Vizcaino would have been the talk of the Futures Game if it wasn't for Moore -- electric stuff, great arm speed, better breaking ball than expected. He just needs to stay healthy. Preseason Ranking: 47

Julio Teheran
Analysis: He's still very highly regarded in the industry, but I'd like to see some improvement on the curveball, which has been stagnant for two years now. Still just 20 years old. Preseason Ranking: 6

Yes, he likes a little shock value. But I also like the fact that his list is DIFFERENT than BA.

I don't hate these
