I have a bunch of game used patch relics and auto patch relics from 2001-2010. I'm thinking about sending them into BGS, but I know some of the cards will not grade high. Should I just get them authenticated (blue label) or graded? Most of the cards are #'d/10 or less. Any suggestions?

are you doing this for your own protection (pc cards u plan to keep)

or grading to sell

this changes things a lot PC do what makes you happy

to sell depends on the card low grades will kill resale value but it also depends on the set i mean if the set is super super condition sensitive then idk i mean a BGS 9 is at raw price maybe a lil less BUT if there is only 1 or 2 and no 9.5s and no 10 then it will be worth something

I personally would do a minimum of 9 on them and have anything under a 9 slabbed as authentic.

I would do this regardless of if I were planning to sell them or for my personal collection.

The cards will be fine if you keep them in the one touches you already have them in. Imo, never grade for protection. Also, I know you're worried about having the patches authenticated but any educated buyer will have an idea if something is fake and the grading/blue tag won't add any value.

Here are the pics to the Lasorda I mentioned to you. The sleeve busted open and chipped the hell out of one of the edges. The same thing happened again to me on a 75 pt game used card (much thinner than the Sweet Spot autos) recently.

BGS doesn't grade patch. Only the card. No one can authenticate a game used jersey card itself as legit, without seeing the jersey before it was cut up and placed into the card.

If that's the case, how come there are so many authenticated (blue label) non auto patch cards?

Because a lot of collectors have no clue. Bgs will glady take your money and tell you a card is authentic. In no way does it or could they ever say the patch/jersey is authentic game used and from the player on card. Beauty of game used card market.

I lost respect for BGS after the Strasburg incident. They should have stuck to their guns and gave the card a lower grade.

You are right, but you miss the point totally. If the card is considered authentic and NOT altered, then the patch would have to be guaranteed authentic from the card company who produced it.

Granted I am sure there are patch fakers good enough to replace one without BGS noticing, but I am sure those cases are few.

The grade they gave it makes more sense seeing the card in hand. Some chrome cards curve and that tricks scanners and other 2d imaging devices.

Do you transport your cards in a little red wagon behind a maserati? How did that happen?

The sleeve plastic must be of low quality.

But they do reject ones not in thier c-list. At least in my situation. Mine ('05 BDP Martin Jock tag x9 or 7?) didn't match pics of examples they had. I then lied and said 1 was pack pulled, and he told me they would slab that one. I was then instructed and number/name given to get proof via Topps for the others. I paid them to....
I then gave up.
