It was July of 2008 (38 months ago) when Dustin McGowan last pitched in the Majors. At the time he was one of the top young starters in the game. Keith Law says that the best stuff he has ever seen was McGowan at Fenway in April of 2008.
Since then McGowan has undergone two shoulder surgeries (one for a torn labrum) and a knee surgery.
He pitched 4 innings against the Red Sox tonight allowing three runs and striking out five. Been hitting 95 MPH, too.
Anything the Jays get from him is gravy but it's just wonderful to see that perseverance pay off.
