What do you guys think? When is a player collector a "Supercollector" I know it is really just a fake title but is it having all the cards of a guy having a mix of stuff of that player or what? What do you think

I would imagine a Super Collector would focus on nothing but one player, and own more cards of their player than any other collector could possibly own. If you own the majority of a player's 1/1s, then you're probably a Super Collector. If other collectors curse your name because you own a low print run card that they want but can't have, then you're probably a Super Collector. If you own a GU cup you are certainly a Super Collector, and are also possibly obsessed beyond reason.

I think I am comforatable saying I am the Descalso supercollector. I own 2 1/1s, 80% of his Base cards, A game used jersey and Bat, Signed ticket stubs from his MLB Debut and first Mlb start. An autographed baseball. 4 autographed cards. I guess I can call myself the Super Collector if anyone disagrees please tell me.

For the last 10 years, I'm the best Tulowitzki collector...too bad the recession hit during his best years.

Can anyone have as much or more stuff than you do of him?
If the answer is no, than you are a supercollector
If the answer is yes, you are not.

I'd add supercollectors aren't only player collectors.

Like many things in this hobby of ours, the term is pretty subjectively applied - but I don't think this a bad thing. I prefer to think of it as the amount of *time* accumulating and adding to one's collection instead of only thinking of it in monetary terms or in quantity/number of cards in a collection.

I think there can be multiple SuperCollectors of the same player. There a bunch of guys on the McGwire thread I'd consider SuperCollectors. Same goes for the Henderson guys and some of the other player collectors.

I don't consider myself, and I don't think I ever will, consider myself a super collector of either Josh Johnson, Dennis Northcutt, Mike Walker or Josh McCown. I just collect guys to the extreme.

Sorry to disappoint you. You are a supercollector. In fact, you are in the next realm. You are a superduperbooper collector.

I don't think anyone should be considering themselves supercollectors of anything. Sounds a little conceited to me to label yourself a supercollector. To me the term should be given to someone by their collecting peers. I personally think there are plenty of supercollectors in this forum, but there is no exact science to how I determine who is or not. I guess it comes down to what others feel the term means or how one attains that status.

Personally, I think it is an overused term and is quite meaningless to true collectors.

to be honest you should worry less about considering yourself a super collector and just keep on collecting because its your passion.. your peers are the ones to call you the super collector and you often get that title by your dedication to whatever it is your collecting.

I'm a supercollector of 2 football guys (Ike Hilliard & Jacquez Green) simply because i own more cards of these players than anyone else; but there's still stuff i refuse to buy (1/1's with incredibly high BIN's; or oddball stuff that isn't card related) ... so you don't have to buy EVERYTHING to be a supercollector.
