Can someone please educate me on why Deven Marrero has been a consensus top-2 pick on just about every mock out there?

I'm an ASU guy and I love my Sun Devils but I don't understand why he's this highly thought of. Anyone who has seen him play knows he's one of the best fielding amateur shortstops on the planet. He's a contact hitter w/o premium speed or power and I'm just not sold on the sum of his tools at the MLB level.

What am I missing here?

WHAT?!? Are you serious? They project him to go in the first round?

It's a top prospect list, not a projection of where they'll get picked list. And a lot can happen between now and next year.

FYI - Conor Glassey is hosting a Draft Chat in about an hour for subscribers.

Interesting there are more HSers than College players on the list this year. 26-24.

He was Cape league MVP.

Are you serious? Then he improved dramatically. I coached against him at least a dozen times and he was always known as "the football guy."

The only thing that ever impressed me about him was his ability to track down fly balls. He must've learned to hit. Good for him!

He had a great summer here. His stats are on pointstreak.com I know or capecodbaseball.org

Why isn't Nelson Rodriguez on there? He's supposed To go early in the draft

Morrie (Staten Island): Are Alex Bregman and Nelson Rodriguez eligible next year? If so, how close did they come to making the list?

Conor Glassey: Yes, both will be eligible for the 2012 draft. Bregman is the better prospect because of his pure hitting and defensive ability. He's a grinder that will wind up at 2B in the pros. Rodriguez is more of a one-trick pony. He's a catcher by trade, but doesn't have the athleticism to remain behind the plate, so he's a 230-pound, right/right first baseman.

So Bregman was eligible, but didn't make the Top 50? Wow. I feel bad for the guy that dropped $500 on my Red Refractor Auto.

Looks like BA is really strongly opinionated on these guys in one way or another. Quite a few surprises to me.
