The price that you get on this bat basically depends on the amount of evidence that you have that it was used and in what game/season it was used etc. If you have conclusive evidence that it was game used and you have the season or even game it was used I'd say yes you can get more than 6K for it.

I will be getting it authenticated but the 1 offer ive gotten on it came from JR sports which is a certified PSA GU Authenticator and he looked at the pics and then gave me the offer, and said on the phone "it looks authentic". That doesnt make it authentic automatically though, the way i got it was through a guy whose grandfather was a bat boy for the giants! I will be getting it authenticated though before i sell

If you are really looking to move this item, I would go with http://greyflannelauctions.com/. They are very easy to deal with and have a large following on game used vintage items. They also can give you a free appraisal to give you an idea of value.

If it is a true Mays gu I think you would be looking at more than $6,000.

I know of one for sale right now for 6,900

The thing the jumps out at me is the amount of pine tar on that bat. I am looking through a few from this era and cant find any with that much tar.

Nice, I have only had the chance to breeze over a few of the past auction catalogs I have handy. I can say for certain your has much more use than these. Is that bat cracked or repaired? What kind of paperwork do you have with it if any?
It is not cracked and has not been repaired, i was over at my friends house and it was in a closet behind a bunch of stuff and then they told me how they got and after a long time and some research i decided to buy it from him because it has all the marking of a mays 1965-68 bat.It looks authentic. No paper work i was wondering if anyone has a gameused universe account and if they would be willing to put up a thread asking about this bat

Edit: I seen you answered the first part.

I would say IMO from looking at a few of the completed auctions (Most had letters from PSA one had a letter directly from the Giants and Mays) you are looking in the area of 5,000 to 6,500. The ones I have seen ended in that area and thats not taking into account the percentage these houses take. But as I said none had that much use so that may draw a few more bucks.

With that said I am basing my opinion on a few past auction house auctions. And honestly I am a bit surprised on how low they sell.

I wouldn't worry all that much about this one being authentic, that would have been nice if the bat boy had anymore info like which season or game he got this bat.

The family are friends of mine and they dont really collect memorabilia or anything so it didnt mean much to them so i offered them a price so i could get it instead of seeing that amazing piece of History sit in a closet never to be seen. The grandfather passed away i believe, but they said he stole it or mays gave it to him they dont really know its been in the family for a long time. I got a good deal on it and when it hits the market i hope it goes to a collector who will love it cuz its an amazing piece. Im also 16 so this is a really big item for me also living in san francisco!!!!
