Cal's son has committed to play for the Gamecocks in 2012

Baseball news

USC picked up a commitment for the 2012 class from lefty-hitting 1B Ryan Ripken of Baltimore, son of Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., who committed after a visit

Wonder if he can play QB too.

is he any good?

He is actually better at basketball but bloodlines give you more opportunities in baseball.

As limited as scholarships are, he must have some talent, or SC wouldn't have offered. The Ripkens have a facility in Myrtle Beach and I think they stil own a minor league team in NC. I guess SC is a convenient school for him to attend as far as geographics go. Having Cal's experience/knowledge around the other players (not that he is coaching) will definitely be a plus.

Go *****!

This football season really gives me an appreciation for what Ray Tanner has done in Columbia.

No excuse for Spurrier not finding a QB in his 6 years at USC.
