Heres 2011

Post this years goals and last years goals. How did you do?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to complete 2 more years

Make it past the quarter finals in next years player collector contest.

Add 150 more different cards. Should put me up to about 2250 total different cards. I have 13 so far that will not be added until around April so that I can get the entire checklist for 2010. (added 154)

Next years goals

Own 40,000 total nolan ryan cards.
Add 50 cards I do not own (2300)
Get to 50% completion of the PSA ryan master set (currently at 29.15%)

get the number #30 spot on the PSA Nolan Ryan Basic Topps Set

For 2012:

Make MONEY

Same!!

I am really happy with my collection right now. I have all the auto's I want and really have no desire to add. 2012 I will probably still look to add more auto's and try and collect so more vintage base.

Mine, last year:

Well, I just got back into it about a month ago. I would like to pick up at least four "Rockies" superfractors by the end of the year - I would like to be at forty different superfractors by three years. I would also like to obtain at least 15 different Rox 1/1s (red base, red sterling, superfractors, plates, etc... ).

Superfractor quota so far: 1/4.
1/1 quota thus far: 5/15

I shattered my superfractor quota with twelve so far; and twenty-five total 1/1s.

I would like to get to 40 superfractors by the end of 2012- I cut that goal from three, to one year. It should be much more difficult as I am catching up to Bowman Chrome releases.

I love these threads :D
Goals from 2011
1. Improve my website with added pages and with new scans of front and backs of all my Zambrano cards. FAIL (still need to scan backs)
2. Add 8 autos to give me over 80% of all Z autos including 1/1s (currently at 180/233 or 77.25%). FAIL (only managed to find 3 new ones, most of the ones left are 1/1s)
3. Add another Z game used fielding glove. FAIL (the search continues)
4. Get 2 game used Z jerseys from years that I am missing (2001, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009). GREAT SUCCESS (Got a jersey from 2007, 2 jerseys from 2009, and 2 from 2011)
5. Get 4 new game used Z bats (to give me 13). SUCCESS (Got 4 new ones plus an autographed game model)
6. Organize my collection better. Undecided

So for 2012 I have some new goals
For Carlos Zambrano
1. 2012 game used jersey
2. 2012 game used bat
3. Try to find another game used fielding glove
4. Get a game used jersey from one of the remaining 3 years I need (2001, 2004, 2006)
5. Add 5 autos to give me over 80% of all Z autos including 1/1s

For Starlin Castro
1. 2012 game used jersey
2. 2012 game used bat
3. 2012 game used helmet
4. 2012 game used cleats
5. 2012 game used batting gloves
6. 2009 Bowman Chrome red refractor /5
7. 2009 Bowman Chrome superfractor /1

These will require some luck, but I think most of them are very possible.

YOU KNOW
NICE JOB ZAMBRANO38!!!!!!!

as for me not sure if i made goals for last year or not but they were all rpobably failed as i was out of the hobby for half the year and just in and out of it in general, hopefully that will change this year

goals for 2012
1) organize all of my collections with scans, how many i have etc, 100 percent complete for all of my types of collections
2) add 10 miggy non plate 1/1's, 10 autos, and 10 GU, along with a bunch of parallels/inserts/numbered/base
3) for bethel johnson- add at least 1 1/1 (really would like the 03 mirror black 1/1, but even a plate will do for this goal as his cards never show up), 5 autos, 5 gu cards, and bunch of base etc
4) for my 90s insert collection- add at least 10 new essential credential cards with 2 numbered under 40 OR 1 numbered under 20, add to my other sets as well but essential credentials is my main one
5) do a ton of fundraisers to pay for a college degree in computer science and get on gilmos good side so i can become a mod and then FIX THE DAMN SEARCH FUNCTION on fcb

I didn't set any goals for the current year. With that said I came along way with bringing my collection to where I want it to be.

For 2012 my goals are:
1)To not bust any wax except for Topps Series 1,Series 2,Updates and Topps base football to build my sets
2)Finish the 2012 Topps Legends Variations(If they continue them this year)
3)Continue to add to my HOF rookie collection(I made some big dents this year with the addition of Yaz,Lasorda,Kaline and Koufax)
4)Grade the rest of my ungraded HOF rookies
5)Further my HOF NFL collection
6)Continue to collect on a strict budget(This year was the first year I had a budget for myself and it really kept me focused)

Good luck to all of you this coming year.

Last year:

1. Consolidate the Collection - I have sold off some of my GU cards (I have changed my collection focus from collecting cards to collecting autographs), but I still have a ton of junk left. If anyone is interested in a complete set or team sets of 2008 UD Heroes, let me know.

2. Obtain More Wainwrights - I added an 11x14 autographed photo, a signed 2011 Topps Heritage, and a couple base cards. His injury along with a lack of funds made obtaining more Wainwrights less of a collecting priority.

3. Finally Obtain a Bob Gibson cert - haven't done it yet, but still have several weeks to buy one.

4. Send More TTM Requests - I have sent 45 requests so far in 2011, receiving 31 of them back with autographs. TTMing was definitely a success for me this year--I added Niekro, Fingers, Kaline, Bunning, Gossage, Irvin, Herzog, and a lot of other good players to my autograph collection.

5. Have Fun Like I Have for the Last Two Years - Definitely had a great time collecting and discussing baseball on forums like this. I dealt with a few more hard members to deal with, but overall, I had a great time, just like I have since I entered the online collecting forum world in 2009.

Next year:

1. Receive more autographs in person - I only got a chance to go to four MLB games this year, and I 'graphed before every game. In-person is by far the most fun form of autograph collecting, and I had pretty good luck this year, adding guys like Smoltz, Phillips, and another Pujols to my collection.

2. Sell of unwanted certs/GU - PM me if you like anything in my bucket. My goal is to obtain IP/TTM signatures of players I have on certs and then sell the certs.

3. Knock ten signed 2011 World Series baseballs off the list.

4. Add a couple game used pieces. I only added a Brett Wallace GU AA Springfield Cardinals jersey last year and would like a couple more in 2012.

5. Have fun like I have been for the last three years.

For 2012, I'd love to get up over 90% on my Duchscherer collection. I only need nine more non-1/1 cards to get to 199/221 (90.04%).

I also want to finish up my Pete Maravich Topps Basic Run in PSA 8 (1970-1980).

The Top 250 Sportscard Registry is another collection I'd love to tackle over the coming years. I'd like to add some of the easier, cheaper additions in 2012 to get the ball rolling.

Goals 2012

1) organize- I have 100,000 chrome cards and 1000 prospect autos that need to be sorted. I've already bought the top loaders, penny sleeves, team bags, and card dividers. I just need the time. I'm tired of spending 5 hours looking for my player stash when it's time to sell.

2) Selling- I intend to sell at same level on eBay next year. I will increase the amount I sell at the card shop. I rent a show case at a local shop and intend to raise my selling from $2500 to $4000 at the local shop.

3) vintage collection- this year I started collecting pre 1970 vintage cards. I have been spending roughly 20% of my card money on vintage. My goal is to increase my spending to 40% of my budget. I am finding more enjoyment in the vintage than I ever thought I would.

4) grading- I plan to start using grading. My goal is to submit 100 cards this year.

I hope these goals are attainable as I will not be done with a very intensive training program for work until April. This training requires a lot of study time that will take away from my collecting hobby
