I recently saw some 1987 Topps Tiffany player lots sell for $15-$20.
Fisk 255 cards for $27 shipped
Gary Carter 210 cards $22 shipped
Steve Carlton 220 cards $24 shipped
Who buys these? People hoping to find that Mint card to have graded? Player collectors?
I'm not hating on anybody that does mind you. I'm just curious.
My wife nags me all the time not understanding how a player can have hundreds of different cards.
I can't imagine how she'd feel about 250 of the same card.

The Armpit of America: NEW JERSEY!
My guess would be those guys that run the Shop at Home collectibles scams. Get them graded BCCG 10 and have Don West sell them as "GEM MINT TENS!!! WOOOT!!!" for $9.95 a pop + shipping, when they are really worth pennies.

Someone who is going to be at a card show that Carlton Fisk is signing at. He could sell them for $.50-$1 easily

I thought about them being Tiffany and how huffamaniac mentoned they'd sell for $1 at a card show signing.
While I don't mind the design of 87 Topps I would think the glossy Tiffany's would be a bitch to have auto'd.
Bouwob, would you buy them because your just that big of a collector of Ryan? Resell?
I'm a big Ryan fan too but couldn't imagine paying for 250 of the same card.
Again, not bagging on anyone's collecting habits, just curious.

Tiffan's are much more hard to come buy. I have 1 tiffany and 455 base topps. I know that my numbers are unofficial and wouldn't ever pass any scientific test, but to me (right now) you have less than 1% chance of this card being tiffany.

That said, there are an estimated 30,000 examples of this card. I would still jump all over the 250+ for $50. I believe that these were issued in sets only which increases the rarity. Most cards are not worth all that much, for someone to break it up for a dollar or 2 is unlikely.

I have 100 of each of the 1982 Shooty Babitt rookie cards. Why 100 exactly? Who knows.

I think it's probably the most entertaining part of my collection...Shooty Babitt was just a name that stuck in my head when I pulled one back in 1982. His last (and only) MLB season was 1981.

I have 300+ Mikie Mahtook USA cards.

I buy in bulk when it makes sense to, and the player was successful locally. No problem having extras in case the right opportunity arrises. Plus if you like to trade, never hurts to have local talent.

I like to go through hundreds of the same card. You can learn a lot about grading in general seeing the differences card to card

PSA subbers...that's who.

Speaking of which, you can now sub cards like these through the FCB PSA sub :)

Someone who has made a much safer, more stable investment and will probably clear more profit than a prospector who drops $20 on a young kid.

I would DROOL over 250 1990 Juan Tiffany's .

I used to be a HUGE Juan collector as a kid - [phil:2qhgkg1d]170722737383[/phil:2qhgkg1d] - didn't realize how cheap his stuff had gotten.
