Since I started a Billy Wagner collection, I have noticed that he has several different 2006 Bowman Originals buyback auto's.
Is there a way to determine if these are "real"? Are they stamped? Embossed?
Basically, how does one tell if they have a legitimate auto?

I would go by Beckett's checklist and that's it. If it's not on Beckett, I wouldn't touch it. And the exact card that is autograph should be #'d out of what Beckett says.

So the first one is a 2001 Bowman Heritage (BH) #'d/99. If you see a 01 Bowman Heritage #'d/5, I wouldn't touch it.

they should still be in the Topps case with the holographic seal and there is a Topps autograph seal on the back of the card.

you can see the Topps seal at the top of the holder...

I don't have a scan of the back of the card but I'm sure you have seen the small square Topps autograph seal before.

This set was a great idea poorly executed. Thye should have gone the extra mile and had each card slabbed (which wouldn't have cost too much money given the bulk nature of the submission and what I assume would be a professional courtesy discount).

I think the problem with this set is that many of the fakes have these same characteristics.

Although I'm guessing it's the Wagner's cases and stickers they're using to make the Pujols/Arod fakes, so Keith should be ok...

Beckett did make mistakes on the CL. At least they did for Russ Martin. Specifically they issued JSY /11 (BDPREL) with 2 colors avail. In the CL they said they were /3 and /8.

I used to own alot of these. The "tamper proof" case sticker can easily be removed/replaced as well as the 3M on the back of the card.

Compare hand numbering pen thickness/style.

Had some cards that they didn't sticker them in order.
Example-
card 1/11 sticker 1
card 2/11 sticker 2
card 3/11 sticker 4
card 4/11 sticker 5
card 5/11 sticker 3

Of all the doubles I had, the numbers were close though. So having an extra copy will help.

GL. Great idea for a set but VERY poorly executed. They should of used those tamper evident stickers that leave a word once peeled off. Their stickers are a joke.
