WOW, I did NOT see that coming and thought for sure he'd go to the NL if anywhere. Apparently he stalled on 2 offers that were withdrawn and has been regretting since. I imagine there was little activity and he pulled the trigger on the opportunity.
They obviously appreciate great glovework from good-guy utility players, as John McDonald became a fan favorite.
Good for Omar. If he makes the team I'll be booking some travel!

Vizquel has 2,841 hits.
It would be a shame if he can't get the 159 hits to reach 3,000.
It's unfortunate he's gotten such little playing time the last three years.
He's already a future Hall of Famer because of his fielding, but 3,000 hits would leave no question from the voters.
