I like Franklin above Paxton, but Walker under both of them (and at number 42) is silly.

As a whole, I like it. Although Teheran outside of the top 20 and Walker outside the top 40, while Banuelos is in the top 10, is borderline insanity

P.S. If there's anything you don't like about the list, blame Wes Yee (j/k he brought a lot of valuable reasoning to the table).

Travis d'arnaud is too low. I know he's gotten little love but there is very little to not like about his game.

do you think Mesoraco is going to be that much better than D'Arnaud? i have both top 20... but TD'a around 5 spots ahead

David Holmberg just put you on his Christmas card list.......#48? Really? You'd rather have him over Carlos Martinez, Jonathan Singleton, Miguel Sano, etc? I just can't understand that one at all. I'd much rather have Pat Corbin than Holmberg if I had to pick from Arizona's LHP.

I'm not even going to comment on Hector Gomez making an appearance on this list.

Good to see Ronald Torreyes getting some recognition! But do note he is no longer in the CIN system after being traded to the Cubs.

Pretty good list. I was surprised at how low Bubba Starling is on it though.

That Tyler Matzek makes me cringe. While I am a massive Rox fan, and welcome any Rockie into a 100 list, that Hector Gomez ranking has me confused.

I like Mesoraco's bat quite a bit more than d'Arnaud's.

Arizona Diamondbacks | SP | 20 | ETA: 2013

A big, strong lefty, Holmberg controls multiple offerings and throws his low-90s fastball on a good downhill plane. His above-average curveball has excellent depth and good break. He commands it well and throws it often. His changeup has late tumble and it could be an above-average offering. He has smooth mechanics, confident with throwing pitches at less than max effort. Holmberg has an advanced understanding of pitching and potential plus command of three average or better pitches. Though he isn’t overpowering or intimidating, he has No. 2-3-upside and could have a breakout 2012 season.


If you're that low on Gomez, you should check out the level of offensive production that's needed to surface as an average regular at shortstop.

I always like to read these type of lists.

My question for you is this: how can d'Arnaud possibly move down from 41 last year, when he had a great season and took home Eastern League MVP? If he was rated in the 20's last year, I could understand. But falling in the rankings, when he was 41 last year, doesn't make sense to me.

This might be the first Top 100 list I've seen w/o Wily Peralta.

I'm high on Holmberg as well, but I was surprised to see him in a top 50 (this being the second time on someone's list).

I agree that Starling gets too much hype sometimes, having not played professionally yet, but that ranking seems "counter-hype" more than anything else.
