There is a post about it on sportscollectors from people that were there. They said Brooks didn't want any medical attention. He was offered, but refused it.

i'm glad it doesn't appear to be hip and hope that it isn't undiagnosed hip fracture. Get well brooks.

Funny you mention that. As a fellow Arkansas, I spoke to Brooks at length about our beloved Razorbacks. We talked about the football program and how he wanted to be a Hog but the Orioles gave him a really nice bonus in 1955. Brooks' brother played for Arkansas's only NC football team in 1964.
