You won't find any vintage, game-used (well, one), or cuts here. What you will find are base, inserts, parallels, and reprints - especially those of 1952 Topps #311.

Apart from him being a 500 HR Club member, there's something else that draws me to the Mick. It wasn't his personal lifestyle (a drunk and a womanizer), but rather my family history. My late father was a collector - he had Ruth, Robinson, Gehrig, Mantle, etc. However, before I was born his collection was destroyed in a fire. There's one card my mother always told me about - his 1952 Topps #311 RC. My father passed when I was six months old in 1987 - this card and this hobby connect me to a man I never got to know.

Right now, I'm going after any reprint of the 1952 Topps Mantle. I also have a small collection of other Mantle base and inserts I've acquired. I'll show them off here. First of all, what better way to start than with each '52 reprint I own (minus two - one porcelain and another I got in today that isn't scanned).

In the mail today was a 2007 Topps '52 #7, which is very similar in design to the 2006 Topps '52.

Tomorrow, scans will be posted of a half-completed non-'52 "rainbow" from 2006.

Cool project sir! and GL with getting more.

I'll check, but I don't think I have '52 reprints besides the regulars.

You can't beat a blue refractor! Nice card Ty.

I have a few of his releases from 2011 - base, Kimball, and one of the Lost Years 60 Years of Topps cards. Thanks to a kind deed from Musial Collector I also have his Diamond Anniversary and Value Box Exclusive refractor incoming.

I plan on scanning the 2007 '52 today, along with the porcelain.

Next is 2006 Turkey Red. Oddly, all three were pulled from retail packs and blasters. My mother enjoys opening wax with me, and she hit the White parallel.

Damn, JH has been a hell of a member. Way to go, man.

Indeed. I'd also like to give early props to Musial Collector who sent me a message last night.

Nice to see someone else who shares the same interest, leatherman.

Remarkably, I am pending a trade right now for this beauty:

1961 Topps #300 Mickey Mantle

Vintage was not in my collection mindset, but I will take it. The trader is a good friend.

As a BIG time Mantle collector, I hope you enjoy your pursuit of whatever Mantle's you desire. I've obtained the Bowman and Topps from 1951 through 1969. I still need one Exhibit card and many of the minor brands from his playing days. The Topps stamp, rub off, etc. inserts are nice collectibles also.
ENJOY!

Kind of a cool reprint of the '52 Mantle was put out by T.S. O'Connell.

"T.S. O'Connell first started the 8x10 series in 1984 and continued expanding it throught the 80s. When I last corresponded with him in 1991, the checklist for the 8x10s had grown to 129 different.

Each watercolor portrait is hand-numbered to 500. After creating the black & white drawing for a player, he printed out copies. Then when you ordered the portraits he would hand paint them and send them through the mail. As part of his agreement with taking his magazine editing position, he agreed to no longer sell any of his products since they were unlicensed. Subsequently, I believe there are alot less than 500 copies available in the hobby of each portrait."

Although I don't have a scan, below is a sample of what they look like:
