1st - I'd like to add I am not a BG/Leaf/Razor hater basher as I have purchased/collected alot of his products

But I have a couple of questions...

If this card was purchased by you, Why didn't you examine it? If you personally didn't buy it - why wouldn't you have someone knowledgable in his autos buying for you?
Buying massive quantitys of cards is one thing but everyone here will agree that this isn't a addison reed auto card..I mean we are talking about one of the biggest stars in baseball right now & if someone was selling me Harper auto cards I would take a good look (not a cursory glance) at it. In this case this cards would have set off bells with me as a very questionable auto. Im sure all the Harper collectors/ admirers here on FCB would agree that they would have passed on it and reported it as a fake.

My second question that concerns me that hasn't been brought up - Don't you find it a little unethical to be selling (product reject cards) cards on ebay that you know didn't recieve the min grade of 9 by BGS and not meantion it at all in any of your listings ???

You cant be serious!
Show me one listing on ebay, just one that a submitter of a rejected card notes it in their listing.
If youre gonna call BG out on this, then you better call out every bulk submitter on here.

So if you are the owner of Leaf, and lets just say you have a stack of 1000 pack certified autographed cards you want to submit to BGS, you are going to take the time to ensure that each of those cards the auto has not been removed and forged to look better?? Come on.

There seems to be plenty of members here that have no clue how bulk grading works.

I'm sorry you can't read a post thru before responding

I was talking about the inital buying of this card...i'm quite sure he wasn't buying thousands of Harper autographs at the show. If someone offered me a stack of autograhed cards and told me that there were some Harper autos included in the lot you would be damn sure I'd would look at those cards. Noone buys high end autographs blindly...especially if they plan to put them into a high end product themselves. Brian takes pride in his products so I was sure that he would take this into account.

The card is a certified autograph. Why scrutinize the auto when it is a pack pulled certified auto? ANy reasonable person would think the auto is real.

BGS, PSA, and all the others are just an opinion. Just because there is an opinion that the card is not GEM MINT on one particular day does not mean it won't pull a GEM MINT on another day when looked at by another set of eyes. Just because one entity graded it less than gem mint does not mean that that opinion needs to be disclosed on sale.

I have called out sellers on eBay that have done this & will continue to do so

People (and some FCB'ers here) hate buyers who buy cards from them hoping for a gem mint / pristine card only to return
the card because they believe the card won't gem mint.

It's the same in reverse - to knowingly sell a card on ebay that wont grade mint 9 (forget gem mint) and not meantion it in thier auction is dishonest.

Personally I check all the items a seller has on ebay including sold items. If he has a large amount of graded cards (9s & 9.5s) for auction and sold, I am hesitant in buying a raw card from them as I assume that they would not grade well.
But that's me & I don't think there are alot of buyers on ebay who are cautous as me.

We're not talking Gem Mint......these cards didn't meet the mint grade

Really ?
I pulled a 1997 Topps Jeter auto from a box

It was in my PC a few years ago - I sent it to BGS for grading and it was rejected as they couldn't confirm the auto
I have submitted it at least 3 times and it has been rejected all 3 times

jeterauto5.jpg

So even with pack pulled certified autos -- I always am cautous about buying them

Thanks for the post....
#1- I am sure I bought this personally as part of a Harper lot.. This was one card out of 10-20 Harper autos.. I just plain missed it..

#2- no... I don't feel it's wrong to mention why you are selling it.. To many collectors (including me), a reasonable expectation from a pack is nrmt/mt (PSA 8).. Do I wish every card was a 9.5 or 10? Sure, and leaf cards grade among the best in the business. However, if a card is nrmt/mt or better , I have no reservations.. If a card is creased, scratched noticeably, etc I would mention. But to me an 8 or 8.5 (or higher knowing that grading is subjective), is not unreasonable.

If every card on eBay was posted with a grading history, you'd probably never buy a raw rookie over $100 again..

Just my thoughts.. BG
