Just looking for opinions. Why do you think etopps failed? The product IMO is very sharp. I love the look of the product in hand. The later years they were serial numbered and kind of a short print.

Did it fail? It was discontinued, yes, but did it fail? Topps made a ton of money selling virtual cards, in many cases, cards they never had to print.

I personally liked them. I never really bought them with the intention to resell (besides Harper and Strasburg which I just sold right away), but I bought some for my PC and really love the look of them. I also got mine shipped to me before the outrageous shipping prices though too.

I think it failed because they could not afford to store and insure all the cards that people didn't have shipped.

It failed for me. I spent $6.50 or more for cards and they are worth pennies now

How did they not have to print them? Also it did fail IMO from a collectors point. Tools may have done ok but why close production if they did so well? I think the cards are sharp but the market is horrible for them.

If people didn't request shipment of the cards, they didn't have to be printed.

They weren't print to order. The printed the entire run of each card at the one time. What would make think the cards weren't printed?

WHAT? Etopps was a huge cash cow for topps and the fact that they didn't have to print anything was genius! Topps did start out printing all the cards but very early on they realized the true money in it was selling "virtual" cards. They kept the shipping charge outrageous and the handling time to weeks to keep people from getting thier cards. How many portfolios do you think are sitting in limbo from people either scared of the massive shipping charge, or distraught over how much they lost? Failure? on the contrary, topps nailed this one to the wall! They choose to use their limited staff on other things like twitter and facebook. I can assure you that this was anything but a failure for topps.

I just called eTopps and was put on hold listening to De La Soul's "Me Myself & I" with David Wright chiming in occasionally talking about Topps. I was on hold for 10 minutes before they decided to transfer me to voice mail.

cheapest shipping 6.75 for first card 1.60 per card after that. Who can afford that when the cards are worth what they are?

I still have a few hundred cards in port. Not sure if I'll ever see them. Its one of the reason I hate Topps

Anyone have experience selling these in hand? I mean sure they aren't worth anything in the portfolios but these are still nice cards in hand, and rarely seen at card shows. There has to be some money to be made there.

They are absolutley stunning in hand. I really loved the "Legends" set and at one time was going to build it but at the time they were selling pretty well

I have a few ETopps cards and they're beautiful. Very well made, kind of like Finest.
I always had mine sent to me because I'm a collector, not an investor. But it was before Topps jacked up the shipping charges to an outrageous level, making me stop buying them.

Should be interesting to see if you get a response

Does etopps have a different phone number than regular topps? I think its the same group of monkeys answering the phone.

Anyone have any of the autographed etopps that topps sold over the years. Those are really nice. I think I still have a Jones Drew somewhere.
