Probably adding the word "boss" was a little unwarranted. T
To me that sounds like a smartass remark by adding the boss, so he was probably turned off by that, I know I would have been, but I'm not sure I would have sent back a response like his either.

People are too sensitive. On ebay, here and in the world in general. Men must somehow by medical miracle get their period nowadays.

EBay feedback doesn't determine business professionalism. Kind of like age doesn't determine maturity.

Its fine you call people boss but he doesnt know you so how would he know you mean no bad intent when you say it?

You already had a price in your head you were willing to pay.
You approached him.

You should have just said "hi there, saw this didnt sell and you were looking for $10 + $3 s/h. How about $11 shipped?".

Boom, done and he would have known whether you were serious (which BTW your #is a fair #).

Why he came back with $18 + $3 though, I dont know.

Hs response was uncalled for but by then and after calling him boss he probably felt you were just wasting his time and jerking him around!

The seller was playing the game of "I found someone that I know wants it - so I am going to make him pay for it".
The whole "If it doesn't sale, I don't care. I don't need money." bs is to try to scare you into saying "I'll take it for the $18 + SH!"
If he didn't need the money, he wouldn't be selling cards on eBay.

Huh? I'm not sure I agree with this...

I sell stuff all the time, at the LCS, shows, and on eBay, certinly not because I need the money but rather just because I enjoy the hobby as well as the buying and selling aspect. It keeps me involved and I just enjoy it. I am sure that I'm not the only one...

Typically when i'm not on a first name basis with someone,I'd prefer boss over sir, bro, man, king, thug, captain, chief or any other responce.

You can't really pickup voice levels across the internet though, see where i'm going with this boss? ;)

To a real, professional seller, the buyer is always right.

Way too many unprofessional sellers on eBay.

Shoot me a link to it, and I'll see if i can't get it for you, for $11. Maybe hr won't be as rude to someone who has icons by their seller ID.

This is one the biggest fallacies in the business world today. The customer is NOT always right. Customers can and do cause problems that make it completely reasonable to turn down their business going forward.

In the context of your response "Thanks anyways boss" or "Thanks anyways bro" comes off as ******* to me. I wouldn't have responded like the seller but I'm not a highly combative person. He could be real annoyed by certain types of guys and it set off his "cocky young a-hole" alarms. Not saying that's how you actually are but that's how it came off to me in the message.

Boiled down: the seller's a jerk and he thought you were being a jerk to him.

Uh, as soon as he responded with $18 , as far as I'm concerned, that was the seller starting an issue. Boss is probably one of the nicer things he normally gets called.

eBay is full of idiots. I do agree however that the customer is not always right though.

Good customer service requires good customers.

Also, I think its easy for people to forget that conveying emotion and intent over the internet is tough to do, especially when you are dealing with people you don't know.
