HOF Dilemma: Get Clemens/Bonds signatures now, or wait until they are actually inducted?

Just looking for some feedback here:

I have a poster signed exclusively by Hall of Famers. Although my plan is to get future 1st ballot inductees before they are actually elected (Johnson, Griffey, Maddux, etc..), I'm torn on Clemens and Bonds.

On one hand, their fees will most certainly go up if/when they are actually inducted. On the other hand, if they don't get in for another 5-10 years (if ever), I'd hate to ruin the theme of the item.

What would you do in this case?

I think eventually they both get in. But not to ruin your piece I would wait.

The only way either is getting in is with some kind of special election many many years from now.

I don't even know why this is being discussed; based on recent HOF voting results and voter attitudes this is pretty much a non-issue now.

Exactly. People already complain that the hall is watered down and letting juicers in would not be good at all for baseball.
They already have * next to their stats so why would the hall want to taint itself? If even ONE of them (known juicers) gets in it would be like the HOF saying its ok to cheat and we all know about Shoeless and Rose. (different yes but still)
Not going to happen. Ever.

I think waiting is the only sensible choice. Besides, it'll free up hobby funds to get the others on my list.

I was originally going to send this off to HOF weekend to get signed, but now think the National is my best bet. The autograph guest lineup is very impressive:

I think waiting is sensible, but roiders tend to have shortened their lives if they were reckless with their usage.

I would wager money that Bonds and Clemens make the Hall eventually.

I definitely would not risk it, they are both the number one and number two most hated people for steroids and in my opinion, if Pete Rose still isn't in, these two clowns don't deserve to be.

They absolutely are. Not in deeds committed but more so in the fact that HOF voters are really adverse to their actions as a whole. If the voters don't like them and the veterans committee doesn't either, they have no chance. In Rose and Jackson's case, MLB won't even allow it.

Your last comment says it all. When people say "don't let the roiders in until you let Joe Jackson in," I just don't understand because the offenses are unrelated. Raffy Palmeiro failed a drug test and got a ten game suspension. For that reason, HOF voters are snubbing him. Joe Jackson took money as part of a player conspiracy to fix the World Series. For that reason, voters don't even get to vote on him. If it turns out the Miggy Cabrera is juicing, he will get a 50 game suspension. If it turns out that he took money to tank the Series last year, he will get a lifetime ban. See the difference in scale? It exists for a reason.

Here is another way of looking at it.

Steroids have been a big problem in baseball. Ask Elmalo and he will tell you how many have and for how many decades. I think we can all agree on this.

There has not been a definitive way to handle the problem. I think we can agree on this too.

The ONE thing Mlb/the hall has power over is who gets elected. They let ONE in and they all can get in. WONT happen. Guys like Mcgwire, Bonds, Clemens etc. could have easily made it in w/o juicing. They XXXX the bed and now have to sleep in it.

I am sure being a big fan of any of these guys would make it hard to think otherwise and easily justify it as being in the end somewhat ok. The reality is it would be the worst thing the mlb could do and they know it.
