Hey all.

Just finished working with a couple of students on a project ($!)

However, I am concerned for the future of this country. We were discussing music and it turns out that they didn't know who Eric Clapton is (?!?!) and, when I let them listen to a couple of his songs ("Layla" and "Crossroads") on my ipod, they both felt that "he's okay, I guess." (!!!)

They also felt that the Rolling Stones are "pretty old, aren't they?"

Youth. Sheesh.

oh snaps. It seems the Cubs are hitting the crap out the ball Since Sunday they won 4 straight and lead the d-bags 7-0 behind Garza's 3 hitter in the 4 inning. What the hell is going on. And they have hit 2 Grand salamis in a row and the only ones they have this season

Ah! Nevermind. Andrew went all "time warp" on us...:D

(By the by, I'm still hoping to find a signed copy of Tony Blair's book if you ever run across one ;). Not on a bookplate, but the actual page)

I believe that was in your original forecast was it not?

Yes. She was hoping the ECW haul would be it. About 130 DVD's later, it's not (and there's another massive load rolling in, inc. some Muta Best of VHS stuff  ). That, and 130 DVD's is an estimate. 2 and a half apple boxes full now, just in the last couple months ...

How's everything going with you and the fam, Dan ?

How much were you looking to spend on the Blair if I find one for you? (Don't worry. No finder's fee for MTers!)

Any good book acquisitions lately?

Hey, Taylor.

Actually, I have gotten several lately, with a couple more on the way. Nothing general-public huge, but did get three different signed editions of Ishmael Reed books, an Iris Murdoch Franklin Library Signed First Edition, and a really cool Signed limited edition of Alan Sillitoe incoming.

Reed is an awesome, quirky, writer who I have always admired. His stuff is a little off-putting to some readers (hard-line lefty stuff, tempered with a LOT of unpindownable political views; Postmodern writer to the extreme).

Murdoch was a tremendously talented British writer who wrote some acidly tough fiction about the failures of the British social class hierarchy.

Alan Sillitoe was also British, one of the earlier "members" of the Angry Young Man school of writing in the 50's and 60's. SUPER excited to get the book (a collection of short stories titled, The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner)when it arrives here next week. I consider the price I got it for as a "steal," though most people would shrug their shoulders at it (about $60).

Awesome!

I haven't found anything as of late. I have a few books on my wantlist though.

I don't know if you are a big Lewis fan, but I passed this place this past weekend. I hope to stop some day and check it out.
