I don't really understand the hype on this guy - must be because he's a Phillie. Yeah he's had a good month but it's not like he's shown solid consistency throughout an entire season. Adam Dunn has probably had a similar HR month with no walks.

Adam Dunn was the master of the walk until Votto came around. Dunn would never go a month without walking.

But anyways, the hype is present because Brown was so dominant in the minor leagues. Look at his numbers in 2010 in the minors he was unbelievable. Everyone was expecting this kind of production from him when he was first called up. He's hyped right now because some people think this isn't a fluke and he was only struggling because Ruben Amaro messed with him too much. I don't think he's going to smack 50 home runs, but I see 20-30 home run power with above average plate discipline(not so much this year but it will return), good speed, and defense that, while not great, has improved quite a bit over the past year.

Note: His babip is .279 and his hr/fb rate is 30.2%. His ground ball and fly ball rates are almost identical to his career norms however. Also, his walk rate is about half norm. I'd say from this that his 30.2% hr/fb rate will likely come down but his batting average and on base percentage are due to go up.

Joyner has been huge in getting him back on track. At least in terms of bringing his confidence back and slowing him down at the plate. He was pressing the past couple of years. Now it's just clicking.

Bown did so well in the minors but suffered in the Majors beacuse he didnt play much. they threw him in here and there. He sat for a week.. got a few at bats and sat another week. Now that he is playing he is getting used to playing. His fielding nees to improve but he now is sttleing in. I always said Play him more!
