Fleer Retro BASKETBALL releases all the old school AWESOME inserts into one ridiculous release, because (like what has been said millions of times on this forum and others) they can't come up with anything new. I personally think it's stupid, just as I think Leaf was (is) stupid for recreating Crusades a few years ago (and still are?). Then I find Fleer Retro put Tony Gwynn in this BASKETBALL release? Seriously? If I didn't hate new releases enough already, I am seriously thinking about dumping all my new stuff. I am embarrassed to be associated with it.

PS If anyone has any of these cards for sale at $2 or less, hit me up. I'll reluctantly take them off your hands. Otherwise, pour some water on them to soften them up before you wipe your a$$ with them...

Gwynn PMG popped up in my saved searches today and for a second I got really excited. I've been looking for a 98 Gwynn PMG forever and thought one was finally available only to find it was the retro SDSU basketball one.

I was disappointed, laughed at the ridiculous BIN too.

Why are you mad about it? He was drafted by the clippers so it isn't like he doesn't have any ties to the nba.

Wait it out as last years release cooled after a while. If a company is going to copy a design, they need to do it right and not have sticker autos and use the same picture on multiple cards of the same player

Really?

If I collected gwynn I would go crazy for those.

How many non baseball cards does he have?

And the reason isnt laziness, its what is "hot" right now.

Damn.. That there, is some fire!

I can honestly say my collecting is more fun now that I've stopped buying nomars and baseball.. I hope you can return to the fun stage!

Oh, it's fun until all of this new crap comes out. I think I complain every year, and buy less and less new stuff... I still love my collection and the Collecting side of it. The industry is what is driving me crazy...

I know! And now every day when I search, I have to scroll through all of this stuff now! Yuck!

Thanks! Like I said, it's just the new stuff that drives me batty...

AH HA HA HA HA HA...tell me about it. Even look at these "Retros": The EX forground is the backgraound of the Flair, The Flair foreground is the same foreground of the Ultra and the PMG, and the Rave foreground is the background of the Flair and the small picture of the PMG...then the backs are all the same pix, too, just mixed up!!
I hope they use a better baseball picture for Gwynn's Retro baseball card.
A baseball Retro set? Is it really coming?
Why are you mad about it? He was drafted by the clippers so it isn't like he doesn't have any ties to the nba.
THat is ridiculous. I would be so mad if I was a basketball collector and pulled a Gwynn. I would be mad if I bought a baseball product and pulled an Elway. I would be mad if I bought a sports product and pulled an African Anaconda, Most Deadliest Snake... THe fact that it IS Gwynn just brings it to a whole new asinine level for me personally.

im a fellow gwynn collector and I can say I havent bought a newer gwynn card in years.
I tel myself, NO! NO! NO! every year, and I always pick up random things here and there. Example: 2012 and 2013 Topps Diamond Die Cuts, or Gypsy Queen, Ginter, etc...I can live with Gwynn being included as a legend, even though I try not to get caught up in it...

Really?

If I collected gwynn I would go crazy for those.

Sorry, but I am soooooo far in the opposite of this. THe non-liscensed stuff is bad enough, as a player collector, the industry is POLLUTED with crap. Yes, people buy it. Doesn't change the fact that the industry is POLLUTED. India is overcrowded, yet they keep having babies there... Same thing.

I can't agree less. I can't speak for every player collector, but I have enough real, worthwhile, collectible, important, things to collect than this crap. I'd buy ticket stubs, or magazine cut-outs (or paper proofs!:o) before any of this Basketball stuff...
I would think, now that Gwynn is so far removed from his playing days, that neat releases like these would be pretty cool to a player collector.
Nope. Not neat at all. Not sure how many Gwynn collectors in the world, and not sure where I stack up-top 10? top 100? top 1000? but this stuff is just stupid.

Well I don't see why the release of these cards would completely "dishearten" you with the industry as a whole. Don't buy them and that's that.

I understand you don't like the cards, but I don't get why you're so upset.
If you think they suck, don't buy them. Player collectors should never get stressed or feel pressured to buy every new card of their player to compete with other player collectors.
Just concentrate on all the cool Gwynn cards and ignore the new stuff you don't like.
