I think belt either needs to figure out his consistency soon or we need to trade him. Its too important of a power hitting position to have a streaky hitter at

The last "power hitting" 1st baseman we had was J.T. Snow for a few years, but right now Belt's power seems like it should pass J.T.'s.

Also, in honor of tonight's hero...

I don't live in the Bay Area (yet) but I know the cards you speak of. I would try browsing the SF Craigslist occasionally.

Also, I don't know the "best shops" in the bay area, but there are 3 that I like when I'm up there.

Lefty's in Burlingame (just 20-25 mins south of SF)
Cards and Comics Central (its in Little Russia, just north of GG Park in Richmond District)
Japantown Collectibles. (In the heart of SF, by The Japan Center thing)

They may have copies of the card you're seeking, I'd definitely go to Lefty's first.

Don't know exactly where you will be - MVP sportscards in Concord has a lot of "oddball" giants stuff.

Belt has always had the potential to be a solid power hitter but has been streaky I hope the baby giraffe is now young adult giraffe

I've been a fan of Belt since he got called up in 2011. I had a feeling that he was going to be something special for the Giants.

Then again I always had a feeling that Nate Schierholtz would develop into a Hunter Pence type player. Funny how that turned out.

I don't care if we make the playoffs at this point. I just want everyone to start hitting as a team and pitchers to show at least the next 6 weeks stretch of being consistently good. Momentum into the next season is always better than piddling the last couple months away.

He has for the Cubs. :) Nate the Great has more HR's than Pence does. I think that Belt has figured it out. He had a small slump but then bounced back last night. That isn't bad. Hoping he stays hot!

I still think Belt will be a perrenial 30/110 guy. I just didn't know if he would get there before we got tired of him and traded him away. Looks like he's slipping into form, next season should be his breakout year!

Even in this lost season, I still enjoy looking through my Giants card collection. Check it out Giants fans:

Rookie cards of EVERYONE who has ever suited up for the Orange and Black in the SF era. (minus Moscoso and Francoeur, I don't have their cards yet)

https://picasaweb.google.com/117451903737126014935?noredirect=1

I use the term "rookie card" loosely, as I tend to gravitate towards parallels and "prospect cards."

For guys without rookie cards, I either got their first minor league card, or I made my own card of them in the style of the Topps set of their rookie year.

With Torres going to the DL and Kickham getting sent back to Fresno, Peguero and Noonan got called back up.

Brett Pill's playing left field today. Between Pill, Francisco Peguero, Juan Perez, and Roger Kieschnick... do ya'll think any of these guys are going to ever pan out to be regular outfield starters in SF?

my ideal 2015 plan:

Id like to trade belt for prospects and/or picks when hes on a hot streak, develop pill at first so he can improve his already above average power.

Develop Buster at third and have Susac catching ;)

Pence Peguero and brown in OF

I hope Topps gets the Giants youngsters into Bowman or Topps Update this year. Active Giants players who have not yet appeared on a major league card yet:

No major league cards:
Juan Perez
Sandy Rosario
Kensuke Tanaka

These guys are in Elite Extra Edition cards, but nothing in a Giants uniform yet:
Jake Dunning
Roger Kieschnick

Sadly, Lefty's was the only shop I made it to, and they were borderline clueless. On the plus side, they did take my phone number down and call me later, but the guy who called me seemed to be oblivious to the secondary market of sports cards (which I thought odd being a card shop manager and all that). He seemed to think I was expecting them to get the cards from the team directly, and then spouted some nonsense about the 2013 SGA team set selling for over $100 (I've yet to see one go for over $25 on eBay).

So the trip was a bust as far as cards, but I did end up picking up a ridiculously expensive (but hey, it was vacation money) Hensley Meulens 2010 World Series away jersey at one of the team stores when I was at the game Thursday (saw the Giants get crushed for the 2nd day in a row). For my first MLB game, AT&T Park seemed somehow smaller than I was expecting. Nice, though.

I know what you mean by feeling "smaller", it may feel that way, but I realized it's just cuz the park is realllly open, even the concession hallways behind the lower level seats all open out to see the game pretty much the whole time.

The Giants are sending Kyle Crick (SP, San Jose), Adalberto Mejia (SP, San Jose), Cody Hall (RP, Richmond), Andrew Susac (C, Richmond), Angel Villalona (1b, Richmond), and Jarrett Parker (OF, Richmond) to the Arizona Fall League.

Parker is at risk in this year's Rule 5 draft, so if he does well, Giants will probably put him on the 40 man roster or he'll get poached.

Speaking of the Rule 5 draft, Gary Brown is also eligible to be taken away via that draft. Bobby Evans has already said that they're adding Heath Hembree to the 40 man and will probably give him a September callup. They haven't made any sort of commitment about Brown though. Could be that they'll add him and call him up, could be that they add him and tell him to go home, or it could be that they don't think anyone would want to take him away and are going to leave him unprotected.
