The news piece uses the old ebay logo and mentions multiple times that there were only 57 made which isn't true.

Found this guy's facebook (https://www.facebook.com/jason.mars?fref=nf) and on Sunday he posted:
"Jason Mars Amazing card only 57 in world. Was authenticated today at 100 percent authentic"

1) It's either 100% or 0% authentic, it's not like there's an in between
2) If it was authenticated as authentic, who did the authentication, and why is the card still raw?

On a facebook news article Mars commented with this:
"Jason Mars This said part of all this is that I have had 3 experts tell me 100 percent authentic then I get people texting or posting me its not real because its to hard to believe...you do a nice thing and nice interview and yben u got them few that put ybere 2 cents in saying its to hard to believe its real.thanks forall the people who support me and thanks to the 3 saod it was authentic."

And finally, here's a link to the ebay auction:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Collectible...ball-Card-Sweet-Caporal-Antique-/171439808784

It does indeed say it's a reprint and it does indeed look like a reprint. Look how perfectly rounded the corners are.

Look at the guy's other auctions, he's sold multiple old aged reprints.

Most definitely a reprint.
The perfectly rounded (and evenly on all 4, at that) is the easiest tell, to me. Seems like the guy is setting up the long con -putting all of this effort into stressing it being authentic so he can try to pawn it off on someone for a "deal" at some ungodly amount.
Anyone who has collected baseball cards in any serious capacity will know that's not genuine.

Quality journalism there. The reporter didn't spend a few minutes to fact check and just gullably believed the guy.
Here's a recent auction of the same card, exact same creases, clearly stating in both the auction title and description that it's a reprint.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/T206-Honus-...1545408277?pt=US_Baseball&hash=item3f395e1b15

Now there will be people reading that scammer's story, searching eBay for Wagner T206 cards, and wasting money on reprints thinking they hit it rich.

Wow, the TV station's website removed my comment. I put a link to the previous auction of the exact same card that shows it's a reprint in the title and description, and wrote the buyer was being untruthful in the story. I also commented that the reporter should have done some background research. The headline also declares the card is real instead of potentially real.

No uncivil language or anything written in poor taste.
Poof! Gone. I guess they can't handle someone criticising their fact checking or precious journalism that relies on gullable reporters.

Yea, this is just stupid. The guy put in a bid for $170?! Hahaha did he think he was pulling a fast one or what? This doesn't make any sense and it's probably fake but cool story.

"Maybe I can sell it and get a house and have a nice start in life, you know, I mean, pay off all my bills. I had two back surgeries and lost my job because of the back surgeries. Last year and we had a baby and now it just seems like everything is looking up and maybe we can get a good start in life," Mars said.

Dude is going to be disappointed very quickly on this one.....about the only thing he got out of this deal is some media exposure

some more of his facebook comment gold

Jason Mars Yeah reprints are sold online but unless you have held an authentic Wagner then don't comment...trust me...been collecting 35 years and have hundreds of t206 cards...I know what a reprint is!!!have u spent 300 hours researching and mag ifying this card and printing and everythih...please don't comment unless u know....not what u think u know...only true way is to have card in your hand a d do all the test period!

Jason Mars You gathers can hate all you want....do your research I am a card expert....card grader...thanks everyone for the nice post but remember this to everyone who thinks its a fake....special print testing was done....paper testing....did you check rim of card??? You can't unless you have it in your possession....none of you are card experts and none of you grade cards for a living??? You cannot make a judgment unless u have the card! I am sure none of you have graded card! None of you have t206 card collections! Hmmm does any of you know there is a 26 card inspection...probably not! That's what the problem with world now days people sit back and judge off one photo? Do u know why card was listed as reprint no you don't??? Go figure life out....its a shame when something good comes to someone people like u have nothing better to do them judge what u don't know!!!! All you card experts think that you can determine validity of card from a photo. Keep your opinions to yourself unless you know the facts!

I feel bad for the guy. 100 hours of research?! Lol. Then he says that it took 1 hour to be mailed?! He knew it was real but was only willing to pony up $177 for it? Well glad he didn't lose it for $200 lol

Guy claims to have spent 100 hours researching the card and even more time examining it once received...Well if he would have used his keen researching skills to examine the auction, you think he would have eventually found the word "Reprint" that was mentioned ......

here's the video of him with a different story:

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152454916018043

The original video interview said he saw it on ebay and the price kept jumping up and he put 170 which was "all the money in my ebay account"
