I have a 1992 Topps Silver Ripken that I posted a while ago in this thread. This is what I was told by jacksoncoupage

"It's a pigment issue. I have seen the 1992 Topps Gold winners range from full bronze to silver (I used to buy 800, 100 ct. lots to build master sets), it is a printing flaw like missing foil, but definitely seldom seen and attractive too."

Maybe the same thing happened with some 1995 pinnacle cards.

So what is with the 1998 Sports Illustrated First Edition 1/1 One just ended on ebay of Juan. Another Juan collector has had this card since 2012. He still has the card.
Is one fake, replacement card, What? This is why I do not pay a very high price for a 1/1.I do not go out of my way to buy them.

I saw a dealer selling a Juan at a show 15 years ago for $1000. I told the guy it was not a mirror and he called me an A-HOLE. Have never seen one. would like to get a scan just to put on the Juangone site.

I would be interested in some info on this as well. I recently purchased a Lofton '98 Extra Editon 1/1 from ebay. Lofton has 3 1/1 cards that year, 2 Extra Edition and 1 World series. There is another Lofton Extra Editon 1/1 on ebay, card I don't have. I am hesitant to pick it up now.....any help would be great.

FINALLY! Landed the 1997 SPx Grand Finale... about damn time! As most everyone knows, it is identical to the "Gold" but the foil on the hologram is gold but tough to see or tell. Plus it is SP /50 but no serial number, so again, people don't know what they have. I finally got a guy to list one as "Gold" but knew it was the GF. Feels so good to knock this one off the list and for pennies on the dollar... as opposed to $40 or $50 or something lol

Awesome set. The card is serial numbered /294 but there are actually only 94 copies of the "a" version.

Nice pick up, but I am confused at this statement. You knew someone who had a GF, but got him to list it incorrectly as a "gold" then picked it up for pennies on the dollar? Tell me I read that wrong.

Sounds like he noticed it was listed wrong because the seller didn't know what he was selling. Nice pick up!!! Those are so tough to find. Makes me wonder if there are actually 50 of them. I guess they could've slipped through the cracks and into common boxes
