I love getting rid of the lower picks, and replacing them with studs like Sano, Buxton, Oscar Taveras, etc. From an ROI perspective, it's a slam dunk. Give me guys that are about to hit the big leagues, rather than guys who are drafted in the lower rounds who have 2-3 years or more of minor...
He certainly runs into quite a few, but overall I'm just not impressed. Batting .234, with 164 K's in 104 games in Low A. The power is great, but the rest is scary.
It is amazing what this kid is doing, at his age, in Low A ball. Here are his last 10 games:
22 IP, 16 hits, 3 BB, 29 K, 2.05 ERA---this is just crazy.
No, this doesn't scream AA again in 2014. Solid average, decent power, and nice plate discipline. I would fully assume to see him in AAA to start 2014.
57 extra base hits in 102 games is terrific. It's especially impressive considering he just turned 20 in May, and is in Double A. This kid is a beast, easy top 3 prospect overall.
He's had a phenomenal year, tonight was as good as he has been. 6 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K. Yes, please.
As for Sano, he finished 2-4, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, 1 BB/1K. Very nice.
