It is pretty well known that Garvey will not sign his 82 Fleer. If you send a donation and the card TTM, he will keep your money and return the card unsigned. I found this in an IP grapher collection. This card had to have been signed right after the release of 1982 Fleer and just before...
Thanks guys. I really did not expect someone to ask what types of things could be done because I know this subject is like beating a dead horse. I admit that I can get kind of lazy to type out long responses.
I know I am new to these boards but let's just say I've been around the block a few...
And to add...the "system" will never be fixed. There will always be people trying to beat the system. All a person can do is try to make deterrents and attempt to block some of it to the best of their ability. Better to do even just a little than nothing at all.
Ok, I'll play. I can only state my opinion of suggestions or at least things I would do myself. (And before anyone wants to say "Then why don't you start your own blah blah blah..." I already have a good job and have no interest in owning an auction house)
1. Make it VERY clear that if you or...
I don't know why you are trying to goad me but I won't fall for it. I'm not into attempted provoking of a pissing match type discussion, which I am assuming is your intent with the condescending type responses you have given me. I understand that you may be a big fan and supporter of Probstein...
If you took my response to be sarcastic or condescending, it wasn't. But your smarmy response is quite childish.
All I mean is that a good business person finds ways to police it as best as possible. There is nothing fool-proof. Is it a lot of work? Yes. Anything worth doing is, in fact, a...
If you are in business, I'm pretty sure you know the answer to your own questions. I do not have the time or desire to explain and debate. But all in all, as a business of honesty and integrity, a business owner should find a way to figure this out. I don't think it's rocket science.
Of course it can be policed. Do police catch all criminals? Of course not. But they can do their best to keep things under control. There are just too many times where it is more than obvious. Makes a person wonder what happens when a seller ends up buying his own card under another ID or an...
While I don't think Probstein himself is shilling, I fully believe his consignors do. People say he is too busy to police it. I say it should be part of his job to police it. If he can't do it himself, he should hire someone to do it for him. If you can not provide honest business, you do...
I want to buy cheap autos and relic cards of baseball only. They must be MLB and no minor league stuff. Im looking for a lot of at least 200 cards delivered for my $100 paypal. I have no problem paying with gift. If I get multiple offers, of course I will go with the best deal. But if I get...
I should clarify "pack issue". They were actual decks of playing cards. So, I guess it was a "pack issue" just in the sense it was a pack of 52 playing cards.
It is pack issued. The autographs are not advertised on the box but I have a pic of the display. There are no special markings on the card to signify a pack inserted auto. Besides my Maddux, I have seen a Ripken and Pendleton. I have never seen a McGriff.
