I have a 1988 Topps Tiffany card that has a grey front. Does anyone know anything about it. The back is definitely the brilliant Tiffany back but the front is... well, grey.

Interesting. I've never heard of such a thing before. Seems pretty wild to be a misprint, but how else would that happen? Maybe the front of the card was exposed to years of UV or sunlight and just wasted away?

I’ve got a Puckett like this. Mine is not a Tiffany, but a reversed printed base card. That back was printed on what should have been the front of the card and vice versa. The other thing that I noticed about my card is the back of my “true” Tiffany card has a copyright stamp that doesn’t include “PRTD, IN U.S.A.”, only the base versions had that portion of the stamp. I suppose the base version could have still been printed backwards on Tiffany stock?? But, that doesn’t make sense to me either since the Tiffany cards didn’t have a “dull” side to them, even the front was glossy. Regardless it’s a cool card and i love those sorts of things.

Here’s my Tiffany (bottom) and reverse printed error (top). You’ll notice the difference in copyright stamps.

Right, I agree that they’re not Tiffany due to the stamping issue.

I by no means believe they were pack issued errors, but I wouldn’t call them fake either. I suspect a sheet of standard Topps was printed on the wrong sides of their intended card stock and then made its way out the door to be cut up and sold years later…

Agreed.I have a Dale Murphy like this. I have seen them listed many ways before but it looks just like a misprint with the sheet flipped to the wrong side causing the images of front and back to be on the opposite sides (mat white and brown card stock). Not a Tiffany but interesting
