So many goals but I am going to stick to my yearly main goal of trying to fill out and complete all of the serial numbered cards from the 2006 Topps Finest Set

White Frame Refractor #'d 1/1:
35 of 155 collected
White Frame XFractor #'d 1/1: 34 of 155 collected
Gold Xfractor #'d /10: 12 of 155 collected
Black XFractor #'d /25: 42 of 155 collected
Gold Refractor #'d /49: 37 of 155 collected
Green Xfractor #'d /50: 22 of 155 collected
Black Refractor #'d /99: 68 of 155 collected
Blue XFractor #'d /150: 36 of 155 collected
Green Refractor #'d /199: 95 of 155 collected
Xfractor #'d /250: 96 of 155 collected
Blue Refractor #'d /299: 87 of 155 collected
Refractor #'d /399: 151 of 155 collected

Obviously, I am still on the uphill slope of this venture but the fun is in the searching and building.

As a side goal I will work on completing the 2000 Pacific Parmount Premiere Date /50 set. I am currently sitting at 116 cards out of 250.

1. Enjoy what I already have instead of craving what I don't.

2. Sell cards that don't fit in my collection goals. I mainly collect complete sets in binders, autographs, old Yankees and I have a few small player collections. All of the thousands of random star cards and commons I've accumlulated over the years need to go, especially since I might be moving in a few months.

3. Enjoy what I already have instead of craving what I don't.

4. Finally finish the 1958 Topps set.

5. Enjoy what I already have instead of craving what I don't.

#1 is a solid goal. #3 is pretty good too. I can also get behind #5.

Nice progress! I checked to see if Erstad was in this. He is not. If he was, I am certain I'd have doubles of nearly every non 1/1.

Thanks! I have an extra Erstad 2000 Paramount Premiere Date /50 if you want it and do not already have it.
Looks like I do have that one.

Only missing 2 cards from 2000 Pacific sets:

2000 Pacific Premiere Date Darin Erstad 6 /37
2000 Pacific Premiere Date Darin Erstad POR 6A /37

A little late, but here are some goals for me:

- Get 2 Trent Dilfer cards I don't have from his playing career. I'm usually lucky if I find 1 but I'll aim high since I actually picked up 3 of them in 2022.

- Get my 1988-present Oakland A's player autograph needs down to 5. At 9 now but they'll suck again in 2023 so there will be plenty of new ones to chase as they toss guys out on the field to see if it works.

- Get all non-Jimmie Foxx 1933 through 1935 Goudey A's cards. After completing T206 this is my next vintage hunt. The two 1933 Foxx cards are like $500 and I'm not in the mood to pay that. I do have the 1933 Lefty Grove and Mickey Cochrane cards already so it's all lower-end guys to go. Well one of the 1935 4-in-1 cards has Dazzy Vance on it but it's not very pricey.

- Finish up the entire Oakland A's Topps base set run, 1968 to present. I didn't concentrate on the older stuff other than the stars previously so I've been going through and picking up what I'm missing recently. Now it's just down to some 1972 high numbers and an Andre Dawson RC (one of the 4 guys on it is an Athletic).

- Get to 50,000 different A's cards in my collection. According to TCDB I'm at 48,570 right now. I don't want to pick up a bunch of crap to hit 50k as fast as possible, I just want to get there naturally and this year seems like a good shot.

In such regards as herewith pertaining to aforementioned goal #2...

One white whale has been harpooned!

1997 Pinnacle Totally Certified Platinum Gold #95 SN 30.jpg

10 months to go in 2023. I wonder what the second whale will be. Or if there will be second one. I kinda shot my bolt on this one.

Pretty much the same for me...

1) Continue filling in the gaps in the ol' collection.

2) Land a white whale. Land two white whales!

3) Continue NOT buying new issues.

Progress update (March 10)

1. Clear out all non player collection cards and sell those to other player/team collectors

Finished sorting. Need to list in a Google Doc and get to selling/trading.

2. Have Aaron Kurcz sign the final 6 cards I need to complete my IP collection for his stuff

Messaged him today to get these signed.

3. Submit 100+ cards to PSA

Pre-grade box is getting full. Need to make some time to screen cards closer.

4. Continue selling off my Will Clark & Eddie Murray player collections

Sold a bunch of my PSA registry set for Clark. Have a few deals in works for Murray stuff.

5. Sort and checklist my Stacey Augmon collection

Haven't started.

6. Add at least 20 cards to my Darin Erstad collection. I only need about 125 non-1/1 cards.

Crushed this one. Added 100+ duplicates and about 20 cards from my want list. A few tough ones incoming and working on a couple trades. Probably the best stretch of additions for my Erstad collection in 5+ years. Usually, it's months without finding anything I need.

7. Add at least 1 Bucky Jacobsen card. I need 6 non-1/1 cards. Want 2005 Topps Black /54.

Added another 2005 Topps Black but otherwise no progress.

8. Continue enjoying the hobby on my own terms

Loving the chase!

I had a realization recently that my actual hobby is data entry. I compile trading card checklists to post to TCDB. I research my family to plug the data into software and websites. I research wrestling to post the results on forums and websites. It all boils down to gathering information to populate some database somewhere.

So my main hobby goal is just to clear the backlog of missing BBM and Epoch sets from 2007-2022 over at TCDB and to start posting the various B.League, J.League, volleyball, horse racing and whatever other Japanese sets I can track down to add to TCDB's database.
