Congratulations, Brett. Are you going to crack it? Good luck with the investment.

I doubt I'll crack it. It won't regrade higher and this way I won't have to answer questions about condition.

Good call.

But don't you think the 9 takes something away? Esthetically at the very least.

If I remember correctly isn't one of the bottom corners a little rough? Or is that the non-auto'd super? Keeping it in the 9 slab is better than having to deal with people asking questions about the condition.

Well, it's certainly not as "pretty" as the Profar Superfractor Auto PSA 10 when I had it. I'm not a big fan of grading 1/1's anyway, and grading cases in general take away from a cards eye appeal, but there's not much upside taking it out.

I thought maybe crack it and save the flip, but once it's out of the holder the flip isn't much of a guarantee to the card's condition. Anyway, great card, congrats. Moore is definitely someone I'm interested in watching.

Congrats, I think you'll make money. That's a beautiful card and people forget that it's a testament to counteract the "courtesy grade" theory.

Someone on a thread on Blowout said they heard it had a bad corner, but I don't see it, and I looked for it right after I opened the package this afternoon. By looking at the grade alone, you know it doesn't have perfect corners, but none(especially on the front) are anything that would give me pause buying it raw.

That's good to hear, it will help with resale knowing the card is in good shape.

I had a deal in place with the seller of the card but he renigged I'm guessing to sell to you for a bit more. Really lousy person to deal with anyways good luck with the card.

Anyone have any idea where this card is today? Or any of his other Superfractor Autos?

One of many examples of latching onto a prospect in high hopes. Maybe this guy was a big Moore collector at the time, maybe he still is.

Paul Skenes collectors take note.

I didn't go back and read the whole thread. Like @Philip J. Fry I always held on to everything, but I was never chasing anyone due to their immediate hobby demand at the time either.

Mine was more of a personal connection to Taylor, believe it or not. When he was drafted, it was big news in eastern NC since he was from Beaufort. My dad was stationed at MCAS Cherry Point, which is roughly a 30 minute drive.

I spent all summer of ‘92 mowing yards and buying packs of Topps in hopes of getting his RC. The LCS could never keep a copy in stock due to his local celebrity status. I eventually pulled his card, and continued to collect him exclusively even after his bar fight injury effectively killed his career.

So, I can definitely see why some collectors would pay a good price for players that eventually fade and continue holding onto those cards.

I have been a collector first the entire time, so I rarely have looked at cards and collectibles as a way to make money and although I am not opposed to selling or trading stuff, I would prefer it to be duplicates for the most part. I am glad for all the people who open packs and sell singles, as my collection would suck without them, but I was all about keeping it all.

I too see how it would be hard to let go of a card that you chased and especially if you spent a huge chunk of money, knowing that you'll never get your money back. Especially if the card will never have any potential to be relevant again.

I actually got back into collecting Matt Moore last season. Its just a bonus that everything is at a 90% discount from 2012-2013 prices. Very difficult tracking things down though

That is the double edge sword of collecting guys who are obscure or who didn't quite make megastardom. Nobody wants to waste time with "cheap" cards, so they hardly see the light of day. I get it, but at the same time there are probably thousands and thousands of cards, especially inserts and parallels, that team and player collectors might even fight for if people took the time to try to sell them.
