Man, that's awful to hear.

Not sure that I ever interacted directly with Michael, but he was one of those people who just made the places he was a happier, nicer, friendlier place. Been on message boards with him probably for a couple of decades, and he always spread joy.

He will be missed.

Well said. I feel exactly the same way.

I swear he just posted yesterday. But no. :-(

What an absolute shame! More so than most—quite possibly more so than anyone—he made this place the way it is, and helped give it a sense of community. It's a loss to all of us, and I'll miss feeling his presence here. Undoubtedly it's also a deep loss to his family. He's wearing an FCB shirt in the photo with his obituary; hopefully they know how much he was appreciated and valued here.

64. That is still relatively young, something that seems to be easier to say as we get older. It's things like this that really make you think about your future. Didn't know him other than his posting here, but sad to read.

It's nice that his daughter could pass the word and have it make it back so people that knew him were aware and could grieve, as many of us are mostly anonymous entities other than a user name to most others on these sites.

I did recall him posting not that long ago and just went and looked to see his recent activity. it's a little eerie, but his last comment appears to be from one of the daily check in threads that he was feeling sick and running a fever on 3/23.

I did the same thing too. It felt like he had just posted the other day, so started wondering when he actually last posted. And I saw that. He said he had a fever of 101.

It's funny, even after covid, I still don't take it seriously when someone has a fever or the flu. Which is probably naive of me. But it just goes to show that you never know when your time's up. FCB won't be quite the same with out good ol' magicpapa.

I'm immediately sad to hear this! MagicPapa will be missed, for sure. My condolences to the family.
