I recently got a new Grady Sizemore card to add to my collection, a nice laundry tag card from 2025 Panini Flawless. After updating my spreadsheets, I'm now at exactly 1700 unique Sizemore cards. That feels like a milestone to me, and I kind of can't believe it. Sizemore's career was relatively brief, a shooting star for a few years before being overwhelmed by injuries. He last played in 2015, and I think his only official role in baseball since then was as interim manager of the White Sox during their historically bad 2024 season. Sadly, no manager card or team card commemorates that. He appeared in Panini products in 2022, 2024, and 2025, but I feel like his appearances on cardboard are now finito. As a collector who has checked for his stuff on ebay daily for about 25 years, I have lots of thoughts about what has turned into almost half my life, but I'll save them for my unread blog.

Anyway, I just felt like reflecting on years of collecting this one guy. It's hard to believe I've spent so much time and money on building this collection. Wouldn't trade it for anything, but it feels weird to suddenly realize the set of Sizemore cards in the world might be complete, and all that's left for me now is to chase down what I don't have, which, to be honest, isn't much, but I'm always looking.

Congrats! My player doesn't even have 1700 total cards. Amos Otis played most of his career with Topps being the only company.

Ofter those collections are one that only true player collectors can really appreciate. I continue to pump $ into Steve Garvey cards, although i have relaxed on what i will buy and what i will pay. Leaf has flooded the market with new Garvey stuff and Topps is doing it's best to follow suit. I checked and there are about 30 (maybe more) unsold Garvey 1/1 cards on ebay now, most of them way overpriced and likely to never sell. People see purchases, but they don't understand the market and think they are going to get a similar payout. Doesn't work that way.

Enjoy the quest. I am sure more will come along with patience.

My favorite posts are from player collectors of non hall of famers. 1700 is an incredible accomplishment. Congrats. As a Mike Matheny collector, I can relate to rarely picking up cards you still need.

Congratulations on the 1700 milestone! I am pleased to have contributed a Sizemore printing plate to your collection in...2013. Oh how time flies!

Grady is now a coach of some sort with the Twins. The TV broadcast interviewed him as part of the pre-game show this past week. Great guy with good things to say.
