Here are the first five matchups for everyone.

Due to there being an odd number of participants, each team will have one bye week.

Please try to have your games scored by next Monday, Jan 19th.

I'll update the scoreboard and league standings regularly.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I had to go to the computer to look at the schedule, for some reason that was the only thing that did not work right for me. But now I hope my opponent does the research

No need, from my understanding. Just add the numbers to your previous ones.

Add:

+1 to A
+3 to B
+5 to C

For example: 4, 23, 24..........5, 26, 29................6, 29, 34...............for each following match up.

my 1st game is hosting our host (cjedmonton)...

i did my results last night :

Based on my initial numbers 6-18-27, I got Reds, 1990 and May 12

http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...99005120.shtml

Scoring Differential (runs scored - runs allowed) = -2 (reds lost by 2)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 3
Complete Game: 5 points = 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 3 (and a question - 0 points if a team uses more than 3 pitchers ?)
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 5
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = -1 (1 game losing streak)
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: -1 point each = 0 (1st)

So as the home team, I have 8 ....

cjedmonton ....8 - 14 - 22
yankees , 2004 , april 29.....
http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA200404290.shtml

Scoring Differential (runs scored - runs allowed) = 2 (yankees won 7-5)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 8
Complete Game: 5 points = 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 0 (5 pitchers used)
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 0
Real Life Team Streak: 1 point each = 3 (3-game win streak)
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: -1 point each = -4.5 (3rd place)

as the road team , cjedmonton scores 8.5

what a lousy way to start the season....

i think the sheet is designed so you can see your opponets numbers for each game all in one place...

what i already did for my first 5 games was go back to the sign-up thread and get their original numbers....then on my own sheet i calculated thier +1/3/5 daily numbers to get their numbers for my match-up in games 2 , 3 , 4 , and 5....i figure this could get a bit problematic the further in we get if we can't see everything already figured out.....guess i'm going to have to go ahead and create my own excel file for everybody to have their numbers at hand for my match-up with them....

If Im doing this correctly, I have 3,5,23

3rd team all time is the LA Dodgers
5th best season of all time for all teams listed under the Dodgers is the 1899 Brooklyn Superbas
Choosing the 23rd game of that season gives me May 13th, 1899
Here is the issue, there is no boxscore for that game or any others for that team for that season, therefore I cannot complete the scoring chart

Any suggestions cjedmonton ?

other thread has details ...in a nutshell....if your season is pre-1915 , you need to go back to the TEAMS and go DOWN ONE until you get a team whose season will be 1915 or later....

edit to add - just wanted to make a suggestion while we are at the very beginning....you mentioned that under the rules of the game , using a 30-game season everyone will be affected by every team .....the way it is currently set up , if a player gets a season prior to 1915 they go down to the next TEAM.....what i propose would be that instead of going to the next TEAM , we go to the next best SEASON of the team we already have....that way we still SHOULD be using 30 different teams each with no one getting more than one use of any given team....

If you encounter a pre-1915 season, simply go down to the next available season under the same franchise.

My apologies if this instruction wasn't clearly explained. Everyone will indeed use all 30 major league franchises once throughout the regular season.

Question: a few teams will go higher than 162 using the 3rd qualifier for match ups, especially Alex - his initial 3rd number was 66. I assume in such a case the game identifier resets to zero? For instance, if the game identifier is 165, then it would reset to the 3rd game of the season?

cjedmonton - Hey Chris, here is the Game 1 breakdown I did for myself and my opponent aarne13. Could you or anyone else double check that I did this correct? If so I will continue on with games 2-5 :) This is pretty neat and fun! EDIT: I edited the Home Team (fantasy) not realizing that that goes off of the game schedule for us as members if that was correct.

Game 1: Metallicalex777 9,12,14 vs. aarne13 7,13,24

Metallicalex777: total score of 7 (I have the Phillies, 1916, and May 4)

Scoring Differential = -2 (Dodgers won 2-0)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 1 (1 for McQuillan, 0 for Rixey)
Complete Game: 5 points = 0
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 3
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 5 (metallicalex777 at home)
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = -1
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: = -1

aarne13: total score of 9 (aarne13 has the Pirates, 1925, and June 17)
Scoring Differential = 3 (Pirates won 8-5)
Strikeouts: 1 each = 3 (2 for Meadows)
Complete Game: 5 points = 5
2-3 Pitchers used: 3 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Start: 5 points = 0
HOF Pitcher Win: 10 points = 0
Home Team (fantasy): 5 points = 0 (metallicalex777 at home)
Real Life Team Winning Streak: 1 point each = 5
Real Life Team Losing Streak: -1 point each = 0
Real Life Team Games out of 1st Place on that date: = -7

Totals: Metallicalex777 with 7 points loses to aarne13 with 9 points

Hi,

To answer some questions:

Johnny G: please post all scores in the current games-of-the-week thread.

TNP777: Alex corrected his C number to 6. All initial numbers had to fall between 1-30. I've since corrected the ABC matrix spreadsheet. Sorry about that.

Going forward, it's inevitable that every ABC number will exceed it's limit. When this happens, you're exactly right....just start back at the top from 1.

For A, this means any number higher than 30 (the total number of current franchises)
For B, this means the total number of years franchise A has been in existence. Please keep the pre-1915 boxscore rule in mind for older franchises.
For C, this means 154 for pre-expansion seasons (1915-1960), and 162 for every year since.

metallicalex777: You've got it! Pretty straightforward, I hope. A pity that Rixey didn't get the start that day. Being a HOFer, that was worth 5 points right off the bat, bringing you to 12 points. You would have won the tie as the home team.

Plenty more twists in store this season, I'm sure.
