Think of how cheap 2010 Bowman Chrome got before Gary Sanchez reignited the demand. Those were maybe $40 ea, and now they're over twice that; and that's as close to a junk-era release as we've had in the last few decades.
If you have high-dollar stuff that people will want, and they spend that money, then that means they weren't really keen on "spreading it around" to everyone else.
