That is interesting, I hadn’t really looked at those side by side before. I got his autograph ip last year and it looks like the one on the left in the auction (from 2013). I’m now starting to wonder if those 2010 cards were actually signed by him.
Nah, no way it sells for the asking price. But here’s a thought: might a purchase at 20k be a potential investment? If it’s an overpay now, what if he has a career year and ends up w the Yankees or Dodgers (which he’s likely to do even if he has an average year)?
Might wish I made an offer...
MEGAFORCE!!!
Man, I loved that flick when I was a kid. I bet it hasn't aged well at all.
Sorry, I know next to nothing about comics. Just had to shout out to Megaforce.
I'm not sure what made this pop into my head, but a few years ago marked the release of an intriguing product called Wheeler Collection Heroes & Legends. You may remember that some people bagged on it because of the bird cards and other various aspects - as well as the notion that the whole...
Going to work at Topps.
I collected 1985-1990, gave it up when I started high school. Really didn't think about cards again until a couple years after college, temping in NYC in 2000 and looking through the crazy amount of jobs available. Dot com economy was nuts and everybody in NYC was...
I have 5-6 of them, mostly HOFers.
I got my first one back in 1989, I believe, from a tiny little add in SCD. A shop in Dallas advertised “80-year-old tobacco cards! Only 5 bucks each!” You had to send 6 dollars (1 buck for shipping) for a random t206. I sent it and got Topsy Hartsel.
Turned...
Baines' HOF election caught me by surprise for sure. I will likely wait for the bump to subside before purchasing one, but I thought I would throw it out here and see if anyone has one available.
Send me a PM if so, I don't come onto the BST board very often.
I have had a Lee Smith autograph in my "future HOF" collection for like 15 years now, was starting to think he had no shot.
Never even considered buying a Baines before.

The level of detail into Larussa's thinking, down to the pitch order and count for individual at-bats, was fascinating. Like I said, only for the hardcore baseball people!
Yes the Ruth is signed, purchased in a Heritage auction a few years back. Absolutely beautiful autograph that can be seen in the photo bucket under HOF autos. I have several books that cross over into my HOF auto collection (the Johnny Evers is another major highlight). One of the reasons I love...
I don't know how I missed this thread before, but I am book collector myself, with a focus on baseball.
I currently have 110 signed baseball books. One day, I will figure out a new place to store my images, but for now here is a link to all 110 titles on photobucket (feel free to ask specific...
2002 Topps flagship had a really cool Coaches' Collection subset, with GU bats and jerseys of managers and coaches. They have a picture of the guy with his current team, as well as an image of card from playing days. I've been slowly building the set over the years.
I liked the umpire autos in 2004 Bowman Heritage, ended up collecting most of the set because they were so cheap (which is why I think most people didn't like the set, or at least they were bummed to pull one).
I like the picks but want to make one minor change:
NL Cy Young
1. Jacob deGrom
2. Max Scherzer
3. Kyle Freeland
Everyone is so quick to discount Rockies hitters because of Coors Field. The first thing done when Arenado came up in MVP discussion (I use the past tense here - he has fallen off...
