So, Boch opting out of using the DH tonight.
Maybe MadBum throws a shutout and hits a couple of bombs.... but it's more likely that the A's are going to LOL at the .175/.261/.350 hitter the Giants are starting.
I'm a huge Giants fan, but I'm struggling to believe in this success so far. There are just too many holes in the team's offense and bullpen to keep this up.
I'm not adding as much to my collection as I used to (life tends to put hobbies on the back burner sometimes). However, I did luck out with nabbing this 1/1 for my Giants rookie card collection:
Lovely win last night. No-hit for 7.1 innings, then they win the game. Thanks Agent Dave! ;)
Dodgers starters look pretty tough so far. Their bullpen... not so much.
I did something similar back in the 80s and early 90s. Everything 25 cents and up got put into a penny sleeve, and organized in monster-box type boxes, with dividers, in 5 cent increments. Anything that was worth $3 or more got put into "Card Protectos" (early version of Card Saver II's)...
The Giants have only had three $18m pitchers: Barry Zito, Tim Lincecum, and Matt Cain.
None of those guys posted an ERA lower than 4.00 in those seasons.
So, the bar for $18m pitchers is pretty low in SF.
