Remember when Raymond used to be a regular poster on the BMB boards?
Remember when Rich was a regular poster and equal opportunity pot stirrer before his untimely passing?
Remember when you could smell the bubble gum on the cards even years later?
Remember when condition was not a huge...
Maybe it's time for another regular feature. Lets call this one Tell Me a Story............. So to start it off, tell me a great story about an in person autograph you received. Here is a few of mine.
As a child my parents would take me to Wrigley Field about four times a year and I would...
For me it was the worst. I was working for the Cubs at that time and saw my World Series ring fly over the fence when that ball hit by Garvey went over the fence as well. It still hurts over 30 years later. LOL
I second this! The '84 Cubs were the loosest, most confident team I had even seen and their style of played showed it. Growing up I was a big fan of the Big Red Machine of the early to mid '70's but that 84 Cub team was awesome to watch.
Oops.. you are right in that it is the '70 World Series. I had another photo I was going to use from the '71 series but could not get it to load so I used this one but forgot to change the date!
I love stadium banners and I bet the one you have looks great wherever you have it hanging...
When the sun rose over the horizon on that sunny September morning the Orioles and Yankees were battling for the American League East championship but one familiar face was missing from the Oriole lineup. When the team needed a place on the roster for catcher Rick Dempsey, who was coming off of...
A photo of any ball player, out cold at the plate is a jarring image but when one realizes the photo is of baseball great, Al Kaline of the Detroit Tigers one has to sit up and take notice.
On a cold fall September day in 1958, Detroit’s Tigers visited Chicago’s old Comisky Park in a game that...
Sometimes a picture can tell a story without the benefit of words but there are times a picture begs to have a narrative written for it. Such is the case with today's photo which features the Yankee's Yogi Berra missing a foul pop up while the inhabitants of the Red Sox dugout, the cop in the...
Thanks for the kind words guys. I will post more photos but not probably not on a daily basis like the past. I enjoy showing off this stuff and hopefully I wont bore you with it.
As for this picture, Yes, I love the old school socks but I always wondered what it was Aaron was looking at so...
A few years ago I posted a photo for the day for probably six months or so on these boards until I just ran out of time to do so. I enjoyed posting these pictures but found myself with almost no time to do them. While the demands on my time are still there, I have continued to electronically...
I had the opportunity to go to the Louisville Slugger factory and museum this past weekend and saw something pretty cool for a baseball fan like me. If you have never been there there is a signature wall that is located just outside of the gift shop that has to be several yards long and at...
The first food issue I remember is the 1970 Kelloggs 3-d cards. We ate a good amount of Corn Flakes and other Kelloggs cereal that year.
Might have to check this one out as well!
I do see your argument but I do not agree with it for one main reason......There is nobody that is now living that saw Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Red Ames or even Buck Herzog play yet their cards are very much in demand. Baseball cards produced in the 19th and 20th century are still selling incredibly...
Looks like a Broder to me. Broders were originally made by one guy who specialized in unlicensed cards. They generally sold for 50 cents or a buck and have no real value as they are unlicensed. The term Broders now has a general connotation as any unlicensed card from this time frame and...
You are correct in that PSA can do nothing until that card is resubmitted for grading and if I was the owner that would never happen as the mystique of the card would now be gone.
It is sad and there have been/are too many dark sides of the hobby recently. I have been collecting since I was 8 years old and am now 52 and this is probably the worst I have seen it.
It has been suggested on the Net54 boards that no other boards are talking about this because it doesnt touch...
