Go ahead and take away my 2 packs from the 1981 Topps Cello and the 2 packs from the 1984 Donruss since it seems doubtful that they will fill. Add the following:
+3 - 1982 Donruss
+3 - 1985 Donruss
+2 - 1985 Topps Rak
+3 - 1987 Fleer Rak
+3 - 1990 Leaf Series 1
I got steined
I thought I saw this guy's face often but didn't realize how often. The only pack I dodged him in was 1982 Donruss. Guess I'll have to become the one and only Bill Stein super collector.
I did pretty horrible. Didn't have high hopes but hoped I'd pull at least 1 decent rookie. Just got done opening my 36 packs:
2 - 1981 Topps: Rickey Henderson
3 - 1982 Donruss: Nolan Ryan
2 - 1983 Topps: not even a minor star
3 - 1984 Topps racks: uh, best card Tom Seaver
3 - 1985 Donruss...

don't think those guys play for the Royals
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I'm about 99.999% sure that the autographs from the Pittsburgh books you show are facsimiles. Don Hoak died in 1969, Clemente in 1972. Looking at that author's website it mentions that he just finished his 18th book about Pittsburgh in the past 18 years...
That's horrible. Of course, Topps replacements are always horrible but you'd figure in this case they would take care of the breaker. I can't believe they even made them return 10 of the Winkers.
2 pinks were from the retail jumbo rack packs (36 cards $4.99), 1 was from the hanger packs, and 1 was from a blaster. 2 camos were from a blaster and one was from a regular retail pack (I just remembered that I'd pulled 3 camos, not 2). The odds on the hanger packs are 1:79 for the pinks and...
They are inserted across all pack types (hobby, HTA jumbo, + all retail packs). They are really tough to pull. I've been fortunate that I've pulled 4 pinks and 2 camos out of retail (which is weird since camos are /99 and pink are /50 but I'm not complaining). Just got $30+ for a Jake...
Not counting his eTopps card from 2009, I believe this is his first appearance on a Topps card (unless he's cameoed in others before). Manny Machado even makes an appearance on this card.
Go ahead and pull my 1984 Donruss and add 1 more 1983 Topps, 1 more 1984 Topps Rack, 1 more 1981 Topps, and the last 3 1985 Topps racks. Also, put me down for 10 - 1987 donruss.
Back in the day, ebay didn't automatically file the NPB warnings like they do now. Since the majority of my items sold for $10 or less and the FVF's were around 5%, I rarely bothered to file against non paying bidders, it just wasn't worth my time to bother just so I could get anywhere from a...
They were not 1 per retail pack, they were only available in the Wal-Mart jumbos (1 per pack) and are really not that much easier to find than the hobby version.
I know I've had a few buyers in the past that have won the same auction twice and it damn sure wasn't a shill bidder. Unless you can prove this goes on in many instances, I think I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.
He was alive for around 6 months after the set went live. There was a dealer that had a private signing with him right before Spring Training in 1987 (when Howser was still planning on a return to the Royals) and had at least 100 of the 1987 Topps card signed, so they are out there.
