Thanks. My dad had a shop, basically to have an avenue to perpetuate his collection, when he shut it down he had so much stuff that he had no interest in. It's mine now and I'm really just trying to sort all the old store inventory out.
He was big in the hobby in the 70's and 80's. When he sold his he only knew of 2 others that existed. Umbricht was a Colt .45. My dad never missed a game as a kid. He'd take his cards and 3x5 and waiting around the dugouts before games. One time they let him in the field to play catch with them!
Here's a hall of fame rookie card story from long long ago in a far away place...
Jim Palmer.
So it is 1981 and it's a card show in Houston. Before the show opens a dealer friend wants to show my dad a trick he has figured out.
At this time you can easily obtain a Palmer rookie for about $2...
chromerookies I have a few 100 signed cards from each year. From 49-75. It was my dads goal to complete them all. But this was back in '75. He gave up in most. I'd be more than happy to take at a list of what you need.
Cheers
I don't think they are all '69's. Main reason I posted was for some feed back. I've always considered them Regional/oddball. They were produced in Ohio with their main priority being Reds players. I've seen more without the tabs than with them. I think they look cool. Why can't newer issue stuff...
I didn't know his auto had gotten so shaky. I know he just signed a dexter press that came. He asked me if I'd ever seen it b/c he hadn't. He thought it was cool. He didn't have many cards with the Cubbies.
This set has always appealed to me. It has a great selection of star and I think the photos are top notch for the era. Something about them with the tabs... They look cool.
