I'll be at the show Thurs-Sunday looking for Bonds cards. Feel free to PM me your number and I'll send you any pics or info on rare Belle cards I come across.
I collect the Bonds. I believe I have that Triple Play as well as an 89 Score, etc. They're on my master checklist I received from another Bonds collector many years ago so I decided I'd get them scratched off the list.
For my Bonds PC: 1. Highlight card title in my checklist binder to notify that I now own it. 2. Add card to my Microsoft Word 'havelist' document. 3. Add card to appropriate binder where space has been left for it's position (organized by year and alphabetized). If it's GU, auto or high end, put...
I'll be there first thing Thursday morning. Staying til Sunday. I don't think it's much of a reach to say I'll be the only guy wearing Bonds apparel. Hope to meet some FCB users!
There's not an item that would make me to stop collecting but I would be pretty darn happy to find a 1993 California Highway Patrol card or 2002 Topps 206 American Beauty (PR of 5)
Cool to see another one of these to pop up. I agree with Man's Game that you have to come strong with tough ones like this but sometimes the scarcity/price prohibits you from winning. I hope more continue to surface in the future!
I have the Bonds. I rarely see them pop up on eBay. From what I've heard, they were given to SportsChannel execs for distribution to clients but can't confirm.
This would be a cool idea. I'll be driving in early Thursday morning and staying til Sunday. I'm going with a buddy and meeting quite a few other youtube collectors I've met over the past couple of years. I'm hoping there's a lot more modern (90s-present) cards than last year's Chicago!
Nice pickups! That Fleer On Base GU base looks with the flag piece looks like perhaps it was used in the post 9/11 games. I recall this because 2002 Topps has a subset card with Bonds holding a US flag before a game with the Astros. He hit #70 that season in the last game of the series with them.
What a great read, what an extensive Gwynn collection! I think it's great that you diversify your collection outside of cards and chase the magazines, pins, etc. Not enough can be said about what a great role model and genuine person Gwynn was.
I also have a Mo Vaughn Quantum Leap /50. Picked it up on ebay about 6 months ago for starting bid .99! Not a Vaughn collector but I'll take steals like that all day.
