I think i have noticed a disturbing oversight in the process here...
While it is obvious for the reasons to reward those contributing in the form of starting meaningful and/or interesting thread topics, i think that overlooking some of the great thread contributors is a mistake. You can have...
I've read this whole thread but wanted some clarification...
I keep seeing the word 'contract' thrown around, but is that really accurate in the context it is being implied? I assume what LEAF got was an invite, a invite he responded to by checking the 'attend' box and returned with the fee, is...
Let me preface this by saying my opinion on LEAF & BG is right in the middle. He has done some really good things and some really bad, if need be I could list the specifics but to save time let us just agree that both have come about over the years. Having said that, I am in no way biased one...
Personally, I rarely use the best offer option. When I list a BIN I list a realistic price, a price I will sell it for. I am not the type that likes to fish or give in to the notion that placing a BIN of $100 will get me a sale of $50 easier or quicker, when in fact the card sells for ~$50...
I am fully aware of the logistics and wide ranging scope of intent with regards to PEDs and how it is far reaching, however this thread is about baseball, and specificly Bud. Also, i added 'other' for anyone to fully flesh out their alternative viewpoint, as you have done.
What do you think the commissioner of baseballs legacy will be when he leaves it all behind? In time will he be remembered as the man who gave a blind eye to PED usage for profit? Will he be remembered as the guy who took a hard stance against PED usage? Or do you think he will be remembered for...
Any given card has 2 real values...
1. What you can buy one for.
2. What it would take for you to sell the one you have.
Although 1 is considered more of an accurate current value price, the other is just as real.
I would try to find as many $25 - $50 boxes and just have fun with it, look at it as a expense towards the thrill of the rip and NOT an investment hoping for a gigantic pull. That's just me though. I would look for things like 1994 Ted Williams Baseball, 1997 Donruss preferred Tins, 2005...
I do not see why it would work any worse than YouTube, and there are a lot of successful sellers who supplement their customer base via YouTube. I think it can be a good idea, as long as you can build followers, as already mentioned.
As an interesting side note....
Back in the mid to late 1980's, even in the early 90's, we had a massive convention hall show weekly. Perhaps 150 dealers set up shop and they were always packed, all day long! I bring this up to draw a single comparison, that being back then perhaps 50% or more...
No, there does not need to be a 'formula', the set criteria works near perfectly.
"Voting: Voting shall be based upon the player's record, playing ability, integrity, sportsmanship, character, and contributions to the team(s) on which the player played."
As you can see, the criteria is based...
